July 25, 201016 yr I thought it was small businesses that drove the job market. 99 weeks - that is the limit. As much as you want to say it, we are not TAXED ENOUGH ALREADY. And your second paragraph is EXACTLY what we did under Bush. Why do you think we would get a different outcome than what we got. Still taking your deductions?
July 25, 201016 yr What does it matter? Were I asked, I would love to give another "nickel" on my property taxe so we could replace the 1953 building in our school district, with one that is actually capable of handling the technology that is needed today to teach our struggling at-risk students. But my nickel by itself WILL NOT cover that cost. It is a about a group effort to get something done. Everyone paying that nickel would allow us to move toward that goal. Me paying an extra nickel will not do much. So, ask that question all you want, but it is silly and you know it is, because you also know that my personal action does not have an impact. Maybe not but if all the people like you who feel that we are not taxed enough would stop taking deductions I would imagine it would or could make a dent. I'm sorry but if you favor raising taxes and do anything at all to reduce the amount taht you have to personally pay then you are guilty of hypocrisy.
July 25, 201016 yr I understand his question completely. He wants me to say that I am so morally about helping others that I will voluntarily give extra money to the government to help them. My charity in that sense goes out locally and to the kids at my school and all of the money that I contribute there. However, to suggestion that the owners of houses and businesses in this community couldn't pay a once a year fee of 150.00 or thereabouts to replace an aging diplapidated school . . . Or that we should not let the tax cut expire on the top 2% of the people in this country because of its potential impact on the creation of jobs is crazy. Deficits stink but we should decrease the revenue of the government. What kind of argument is that? Do you claim a deduction for that "local" contribution? Kind of robbing Peter to pay Paul?
July 26, 201016 yr Just more liberal hypocrisy Ace. It's acceptable for you to "give" as you deem appropriate, but when you say, "we are not TAXED ENOUGH ALREADY" you just mean the rest of us are not taxed enough already. If you really belived the "WE" in that statement, you would gladly let the Feds keep your return. BUT since you happily receive it from them to "give" as you see fit... your words ring hollow to me. I'm far from the top 2% and my family will be hit by allowing the Bush cuts to expire. Put your money where your mouth is Ace... until then, your noble lectures on paying more are nothing more than windchimes... :thumb: On the money, Fastbreak! (pun intended)

Both allegations are equally fallacious for the same reason.

It is not hypocrisy and it is not the same. You will only be hit if they allow ALL of the Bush tax cuts to expire - that is not the plan currently.
July 26, 201016 yr As a matter of fact, I do not. When I buy the school pizza, I don't ask for a letter from the book keeper. When I give a pair of shoes to a kid or pay for a filed trip, absolutley not. Now, that would be bragging if you knew me, but since this is anonymous, I give nearly over 1,000.00 a year to my school and don't claim a dime. I think that this is the list of things I claim - Kids, childcare, mortgage, interest on students loans, other taxes. I also overpay and let the government hold the money for a year and give me one payment sans interest.

The sad part is there is no true way to measure by dollar the amount of time you give back to the kids in your district and community. But to follow up on another comment. Doesn't the Bible teach us the most two important things to learn is to Love God and Love thy neighbor? You can't Love God if you don't Love your Neighbor. So during this time of economic stress, what better way to show Love by digging down and giving a little more? So does Hypocrisy fit us all in some way when we complain about government tries to lend a helping hand to those whoa re suffering?
July 26, 201016 yr Author Everyone has gotten off the subject and the title of the thread just a little, which is, Do you think unemployment benefits will last through Mr. Obama's entire term? My opinion was most definetly yes, with tens of millions being on unemployment for his entire 4 years. What says you?
July 26, 201016 yr Everyone has gotten off the subject and the title of the thread just a little, which is, Do you think unemployment benefits will last through Mr. Obama's entire term? My opinion was most definetly yes, with tens of millions being on unemployment for his entire 4 years. What says you? Not really sure where you are going with this? UE benefits were in existence prior to Obama, and they will be post Obama as well. There will always be people on UE. They lose their job through no fault of their own to qualify and it's meant to sustain them until they can find another job. You can't get UE benefits unless you were working and qualified for them. Seems some on here are confusing welfare with UE, big difference. Currently, the 76 weeks of federal extensions have taken people to a max of 99 weeks. Once they exhaust their 99 weeks, they fall off of the UE benefit mountain. There are NO extensions beyond 99 weeks. The 76 weeks that were added are high due to the current economic conditions that were caused by lots of irresponsibility on lots of different levels. So to answer your question..............yes, UE benefits will last during Obama's term, just like they did with Carter's, Ford's, Reagan's, Bush I, Bush II, Clinton, and now Obama.

July 26, 201016 yr I'm sorry but if you favor raising taxes and claim even 1 deduction you are being hypocritical. The same is true if you drive on the road, accept police protection, expect children to have decent schools, want the military to defend us, are willing to accept medicare, plan on having some social security, want reasonably safe airports, have radio, TV, cell phones that work in some kind of reasonable order, and ALL OF THE OTHER BENEFITS you recieve, but are constantly wanting to reduce the revenue that is used to pay for them. All you people that want to cut taxes, quit using the systems provided for by those taxes, or you are simply being hypocritical.
July 26, 201016 yr It happens now, just shows how little you know about the program. 99ers are already falling off.
