How many of the 2010 kids received full rides?

Featured Replies

Over the past few years this class was hyped as a class with tons of talent. How many from this class received full rides to college?

Caleb Hardy of Carlisle County received a full ride to Bethel University in McKenzie, TN. It is a NAIA Div. 1 school.

Are you fishing for something? Or is it a legitimate question? Seems there have been alot of kids get their educations paid for from this class.

Few players get full rides. For the state's private schools, rarely is more than a portion of it paid for. Usually it's a combination athletics/academics deal, but mom and dad still have to write that big tuition check. For many, it's more economical not to play and to go to UK or EKU or one of the other state schools.

Full Rides:

Ricardo Johnson (Holmes)- Ohio U

Jeremiah Johnson (Holmes)- Campbellsville U.

Elijah Pittman (Holmes)- Chipola College, FL

Chad Jackson (Scott Co)- James Madison U

Dakotah Euton (Scott Co)- Akron U

Josh Sewell (Trinity)- Miami (OH) U

Elisha Justice (Shelby Valley)- Louisville

Those are just a few that received full scholarships. I know there's more than just those guys though.

You will be able to add Gelawn Guyn to this list either this year or next at Cincy.

D1 or D2 a full ride is a full ride so this is good to hear a kid getting a chance to get a great education for free. Congrats to Mr. Hardy.

What about Johnston going to KWC?

There are also those kids who play for D3 schools that go for free or next to it because of academic scholarship combined with financial aid.

And there are also a handful of kids who are able to attend top 20 academic schools because they can play basketball.

Not a full ride, but I've heard that Mikey Gabbard (Boone Co) will be walking on at EKU.

Reported earlier on this board that he is walking on at WKU. Hopefully that will turn into a partial or full scholarship for him after the first year.

I think it was established on a previous thread that there was only a handful (less than 10) that received full athletic D1 schollys. The statistics don't lie. A very, very low percentage. Sort of reminds me of golf. Lots of very good "scratch" golfers, but there are only a handful that get their cards. If you receive a full athletic D1 scholly in any sport, you are in rare air.
