Kentuckys Top Teams

Are you sure this is not the final 2009 MaxPreps KY football rankings, instead of the 2010 preseason rankings list? I am pretty sure your list reflects the end of last year's rankings, but it may be that MaxPreps feels these teams will begin 2010 where they left off last season.

It's hard to believe that three of the top seven teams in KY are based in NKY, but if they are, then great!

I don't find it all that hard to believe. I'm not so sure that Ryle and SK are top 7, but who knows. NKY has had plenty of years where they would have a few top 10 teams. Anyways, Why are only the top 7 listed? Don't they normally have either a top 10 or 20?

Only way u can find out what they are rated is by looking at each team I am not going to sit there and find the rest I dont know why they didn't list the top 10 u will have to ask Maxpreps.com sorry.

Aug 13th I believe at 7:30...Could be wrong though

This scrimmage will be played just like a game I'm sure. I can't wait, this should be a great way to kick off both teams seasons. :thumb:

Here's a question to consider: I am hearing from several people that this Highlands-Trinity scrimmage will be played just like an actual game, with each side playing to win it (as opposed to using it for a glorified practice).

Given this scrimmage pits arguably the state's two most accomplished football programs, who rarely play each other, could it be that this preseason scrimmage is the most important "game" Highlands will play in 2010, before the state playoffs begin?

How big a deal is it among HHS fans here whether Highlands "wins" this varsity scrimmage with Trinity?

I dont think Trinity is as good as they used to be I think ST X is still the team to beat.

Coach Glaser said on TV yesterday "we lost 53 Seniors". I'm just saying what he said. This is the St X coach for y'all up North/West/South of Jefferson County.

Did he mention anything about the 40-50 Seniors to be that would replace them?

It's more of a "deal" to the fans than the players. It is a SCRIMMAGE...shouldn't count in the ratings, no W/L. Coaches WILL experiment and call differently as well as substitute liberally. Probably have no kicking game other than non-rush/return punts or FG. A GREAT chance for BOTH teams to get a final tweak to their line-ups. All that said...They WILL keep score and the hitting will be full bore! BOTH sides want to come out on top in this one, badly! Should be a GREAT event...get there early!

I wouldn't do that either. That's incredibly inconvenient.

Attendance shouldn't be the only criteria for a quality game. Many times the regular season tilt between St. X and Trinity draws more than those two playing in the state finals. I would imagine the attendance for that game would be greater than the attendance for say Highlands/Withrow.

Only reason it does is because it is set early every year and tons of alums come back into town specifically for it.

Its a preseason game. Although you can bet both teams will be on full throttle for this one!

I honestly expect HHS to come out on top in this one. They will be returning more experienced players and we will be starting more young players than usual. On top of that we have a new DC, so I would like to see us keep things respectable. We will probably be starting slower than usual this year.

I hope everyone we play feels the same way. We are very young but extremely talented. It will be interesting to see how fast the kids grow up. Once they do ........

as HHS has to replace 10 positions on offense and at least 4 - 5 on defense. I expect there to be a ton of mistakes in this one.

Rule #10

Kentucky's 1st, and only, team appears in the Rivals.com Top 100 countdown today. Congrats to the St. Xavier Tigers who check in at number 77 in the country.

Looks like they've only announced 100-76 on their count down. I'm just sayin......

True. However, when you look at the blurb on St. Xavier, it says in graphics on the right in the title "#1 KY" which I took to mean that they are the number one team in the state. I would find it hard to believe they would have the #1 team in KY at 77 and some lesser team higher.

Make sense?
