July 1, 201016 yr George LeMieux (R-FL) scolded President Barack Obama from the Senate floor yesterday, telling Obama that it wasn’t just oil washing up on the shores of the Gulf; it’s failure. Now, in the last 24 seconds he makes a point I've made with others since about 20 days in. That's a chunk out of the presidential tookus right there.
July 1, 201016 yr Isn't it BP's failure? Frankly, I'm not sure exactly how Obama is supposed to keep the oil at bay, or could have. The failure was on the part of BP in not having a plan for such an emergency, and maybe even more importantly, not allowing it to happen in the first place.
July 1, 201016 yr I definitely like his use of silence between points...definitely hits home. I agree. From a public speaking standpoint, he was spot on. Very effective.

The President and his EPA and others refused help for a period of time.............

July 2, 201016 yr I have to admit I am disapointed in Obama's lack of force. I used the word Force because I think he should have been down in the Gulf kicking the snot out of BP and using every source possible to stop the oil. I also felt the same thing about Bush during Katrina, but the big difference is Bush allowed Americans to die. Obama is only helping destroy wild life and put Americans out of jobs. Either way both sat on their rear ends to long.

Either way both sat on their rear ends to long. Bush did not allow Americans to die, anymore than any of the rest of our elected officials did. Fingers can be pointed closer to home, in the way of local and state authorities. No one will mistake me for a Bush apologist, but it's just not true that Bush "let" people die.
July 2, 201016 yr I like your use of the word "tookus." If his opinion were from a different perspective I suspect that he would get a PM that his post was deleted for a rule 8 violation. Just saying...
July 2, 201016 yr Bush was treated very unfairly. There was nothing he could have done much like there isn't anything Obama can do.

July 2, 201016 yr But there are those on the right who have chosen to show the same level of respect toward Obama that the left showed to GWB. I don't think it's been that bad on Obama and I'd venture to say that the far left is probably much more angry with Obama over this than the right is.
