June 30, 201016 yr (CNN) – Republican Sen. Bob Bennett – the first incumbent senator this cycle to fall victim to a primary challenge – says his party isn't doing a good job of advancing substantive ideas. "As I look out at the political landscape now, I find plenty of slogans on the Republican side, but not very many ideas," Bennett told The Ripon Society, a Republican think tank in Washington. June 30, 201016 yr ^ I believe President Bush tried #2 and #3. Republicans in Congress didn't want any part of it.

See, what you did there was just list the talking points. You didn't say how it could be done. If it were as easy as that, it would have been done long ago, right?

I'm sorry. But ideas have steps to accomplishing the goals. You've posted the end result you desire, but no ways to get there.

Who was that guy that was President then? Oh yeah, I remember now.
July 1, 201016 yr I'm sorry. But ideas have steps to accomplishing the goals. You've posted the end result you desire, but no ways to get there. My goals are peace and prosperity. Elect me!
July 1, 201016 yr My goals are peace and prosperity. Elect me! Now that's some "Hope and Change we can believe in" "Yes we can, yes we can, yes we can!"
July 1, 201016 yr Win elections... Again, not an idea. That's the goal. But ideas are what will win you elections. So...Obama, as much as everyone loathes him, campaigned on healthcare reform, stayed with it like a pit bull, used a lot of his ideas, and it got pushed through. You may not like his ideas, but they were IDEAS. They accomplished 2 goals so far: One, he got elected in part because of the ideas he presented. Two, healthcare reform was achieved. The time of "I promise to ________" without presenting any way of getting that accomplished isn't going to work anymore, and that's what Bennett means. People now will ask for the plan before they decide whether or not to support you.

While most would agree that there needed to be an overhaul did they agree on the plan presented? Was there a true plan presented?
July 1, 201016 yr Arizona had an idea to combat illegal immigration and now other states are boycotting their products and the federal government is threatening to take them to court.
July 1, 201016 yr If everyone knew the President's plan to overhaul healthcare, would he have received as many votes? While most would agree that there needed to be an overhaul did they agree on the plan presented? Was there a true plan presented? IMO, I wasn't surprised by anything that was presented or passed. I didn't find any of it surprising. I listened to his ideas when he spoke, and I read everything I could find on his website and in the media. So, if anyone is surprised or didn't know, shame on them...the info was there.
