It was a fun night and enjoyable game. All the players seemed enthused and really into the game. The passing game was rather anemic for both teams, especially the West, both that's not too surprising given the minimal amount of practice time the teams had. Buckler looked good for the East and Austin Johnson also had a very nice run. Simpson had one impressive run, both other than that was bottled up. I wish Nick West would have played for the West. His arm would have helped out the West offense, who just didn't have the same overall rushing success as the East. Best of all, no one got hurt and there were a lot of happy, smiling faces after the game.

Nice to see Buckler got to show all of Nky he can definitely play.

There was a very nice crowd in attendance for the game. Perhaps I'm wrong, but it seemed to be bigger than usual.

The East defense was amazing. Several oppurtunities by the West and they just could not seem to get anything going. I thought for sure when Rigdon, Simpson, Quainoo, and Walker were all on the field the West would make some big time plays, but it never happened. Buckler and Johnson the two smallest guys on the filed really did shine and at runningback. However it was an awesome o-line they were running behind. It was a great game and as most figured a defensive game. Only having five days to practice does not allow the offense to really gel and get things running on all cylinders. So the defense just reads and reacts to the simple plays that are put in.

Miles played running back but the West team had some bad coaches and the QB's where not that good they should have put Walker from HC at QB.

You are correct about the simple offenses. Don't know about the West, but the East's playbook was on one page. Like seeing Zach Deaton call the counter. Man, I love that play.

 

I was really surprised that the West couldn't run the ball better than they did, particularly between the tackles. Other than one nice run by Simpson (during which he broke several tackles after he was stopped at the line of scrimmage) and some nice runs out of the QB position, the East D kept them throttled through the first 3 quarters. I missed the 4th quarter as I had to run an errand to Fed Ex for Henry (technically for my youngest son). The kids from Holmes on defense all played a very good game.

 

I was on the field after the game and enjoyed seeing all the smiles from the players and seeing the friendly inter-action between the players on both teams. Just a great way for the kids to end their high school football careers.

 

Big thanks to the organizers of the event, the coaches and the refs for volunteering their time. Well done!

He had 2 QB's that could pass the ball to loosen up the defense.

 

I believe Buckler had half of his yards after contact, the kid works hard and played very well.

I hope number 30 is OK because I know Jake didn't try bring him down this way he had to dive to make the tackle and it just happened. Well Chad Montgomery called the offense and did a great job he even put some Bellevue Buck and Slam in there.

The crowd was awesome one of the biggest I have seen in years. The game was great too and the players seemed to enjoy it. The East had a lot more speed and I think that was the difference. The two big plays of the game were the field goal right before half. The West could have kicked a field goal or two at the end there and tied it, but were forced to go because of the field goal right before half. Then the biggest play was the 4th and 3 inside the redzone. Wonderful event and I am thrilled every kid had a lot of playing time at least from the East. Refs did a wonderful job as well players and coaches.

I hadn't been to the last couple All star games, so I can't comment on those. However, I was very impressed by the crowd, the overall play on the field and the enthusiasm of the players. It was a very enjoyable game to watch. Obviously teams/players weren't in mid-season form in any way shape or form, but their energy and excitement was.

 

As others have mentioned Buckler was impressive and it was great seeing Miles run a few more times.

 

Definitely worth the $5 admission.

 

Only problem is I now have serious football fever, and I will have to wait until August 13th to even see a scrimmage!

Chad did a great job of calling the offense. I think he adjusted during the game very well to put them in the right position to win. Any chance he calls the offense for the Greendevils this coming season?
