I agree with you on this. I can't imagine many situations that would include Miami going to the SEC. It will be hard enough for Florida to okay Florida State coming on board.

 

Which is why UF will never have any respect from me. They sure could run up the score two years ago, but they won't play Miami on a yearly basis. If I have a vote they would never get a top 5 vote from me because they dodge a team in their state that is suppose to be a rival. One you have to win every now and then for it to be a rivalry, and two UF would have won more than their share against the U this decade. How can you be a National Champion when you're afraid to play someone?

Just because TCU has had a couple good years, they pale in comparison to Nebraska in the area that matters most: ability to draw fans to the TV sets = more money. The fact is there just aren't many good replacements for Nebraska, which is why teams like Texas will likely look to the Pac-10 and USC, Oregon: ability to draw fans to the TV sets = more money.

Sounds like Notre Dame is considering the idea of the Big 10, pushing their ego aside for a moment. We will see.

The problem for the Big 12 is not the Big 10, it's the PAC 10 and SEC, though I think the SEC will still raid the ACC and Big East. No matter who the raider is, though, the Big 12 and Big East are toast.

Chip Brown of Oranegbloods.com has been all over this story, and he was just on the radio in Dallas talking about everything. Here is a summary of the latest...

1) Osborne met with all sports coaches today and told them they're joining the B10

2) Deloss Dodds, AD at TX met with all coaches today and told them their intention was to join the PAC16 East.

3) A&M and TX officials are meeting tomorrow at A&M to make sure they are exactly on the same page on all PAC16 details.

TT , OU and OSU are all in.

4) Root of all this is B12 Commissioner Beebe NOT voting for playoff in the fall of 2008.

5) Secondary catalyst was Missouri Governor stating publically and emphatically that Mizzou should be in the B10.

6) NO one left in the B12 wants MIzzou. If they decided to salvage the B12 after NE's exit, they would vote to expul Mizzou.

7) Mizzou has NO invite to the B10 and NO invite to the PAC16. They are conference-less.

8) CU has trumped Baylor. Schools entering the PAC16 East will be TX, TX A&M, TT, OU, OSU, and Colorado.They will join AZ and ASU in the PAC 16 East.

9) KU, KSU, ISU, and Mizzou are on the outs and at this point conference-less. There is talk that the BE wants KU. They could also get Mizzou, but MO Governor is all over the B10 to get them invited.

10)PAC 16 play will begin in 2012. That means 2 years of acrimonious league play.

11) Can you imagine a future Rose Bowl with NE playing TX ? Everyone down here is blaming NE for tanking the B12.

12) B10 is going to invite either Rutgers or Maryland to join.

13) No firm word on ND, but looks unlikely that they'll join a FB conference.

14) Likely that KSU, ISU will join the MWC with Boise, TCU, AFA, BYU, UT, SMU and Houston. BUT KSU wants to go where KU goes, and KU is too powerful to join the MWC.
