I suspect he was referring to the controversy ...

What controversy??????
Under a rock for the last two years?

Just the overall negative vibe that comes from the Scott County program has to be catching up to or effecting Billy, not saying any is his fault but it is still there. Bud Mackey is still a dark cloud that hangs over that school and when you add all the other issues it just has to burn a person out somewhat!

What does he have to do with Mackey, he left the program three years ago. What other issues does he have? I bet 99% of the coaches in the state would like to have the issue of dealing with coaching in the final four of the Sweet Sixteen. I'm sure Hicks is a very happy man dealing with constantly having one of the top teams in the state year in and year out. The only negative vibe, is the negative vibe that those put out that are jealous of Scott Co. put out or post on sites like this. I'm sure as long as those whining don't sign Hicks check, he could care less.

Hicks has a program that draws good players. Wow, what a problem to have! If other coaches and communities don't like it, build a program like Scott Co's and "they will come". Does anyone actually think that Scott Co. is buying houses and getting jobs for people to bring their kids to Scott Co.? NO WAY, he plays a high profile schedule, constantly goes to the state tournament and puts players in college to play basketball and get a free education. What parent would not want that for their kid if he has the desire to play at the next level?

Maybe those that don't have programs like Hicks has, should look at their program and coach and figure out why their team and program is not as successful as Scott Co's.

Any updates on the Clay situation?

EVERY school in the state has had a kid that has made mistakes. Mackey's problems are not a reflection on Scott County, the school, the basketball program or Coach Hicks. He has a solid program and I can't see him leaving it.

Is this a Scott or Clay county thread?

My thoughts exactly... let's get this back on topic. So, again, is there any news on the Clay Co. job. Summer ball will be starting soon. I'm sure someone will need to be in place.

I heard that there would be a coach in place by the 1st of June.

It will be one of these:

Jerry Combs

Bobby Kieth

Larry Sizemore

Tim Parks

Well, if it's one of those 4 it must be Parks because Combs won't get it, Sizemore don't want it and Keith's health won't hold up.

I have also heard Parks will be the new Clay coach and will have Bobby Keith as his assistant. He came over to JBS several times helping Tim do some things and looked like they worked well together. If this is who Keith wants, then that is who they will hire. :ylsuper:

Are you serious?

So....who do you cheer for?

My guess would be Coach Keith. I would say this could end up being a situation like Knott Co. last season. If Keith takes the job I would place my money on Clay being a top 10 team in the state. Keith is a great coach, and Clay has a very good team coming back. They could also hire someone like Messer to be his assistant and coach in waiting.
