Bob just can't stand HHS...

Dale can't stand Cov. Cath... I don't understand the logic behind it, if you don't like a school, then beat them. He may just not like Highlands and realize that NCC couldnt beat them. What is the reason Bob can't stand Highlands?

Bob Schneider is a coaching legend in NKY. Period. I don't care if he didn't schedule Highlands in the later part of his career. That doesn't matter to me nor does it take away from his accomplishments.

Right on, RC.

Come on folks, quit trying to take away from Coach Schneider's accomplishments. I think his decades of dedication to New Cath, their football program and the young men who've gone through that program entitles him to pick whichever teams he wants to play - without the judgment of anyone else.

Schneider must be remembered always as a guy who did it his way. What he felt was right could not be compromised just to win. I take that attitude every day w/ me to work and I learned it directly from Mr. Schneider. He is and always will be a great man first, coaching legend second. That's about as high a compliment as you can pay an educator.

I never played for Bob but he taught me! Great man!

You really do just love yourself and your affiliation with Highlands don't you?

Go spread your elitist cancer elsewhere...let a legend go his way and have the decency to not hijack this thread with questions we all know the answers to.

...and don't bother with the "you're just jealous" spiel either, I was 1-0 against Highlands with a ring to prove it.

Actually Bob has a lot of respect for Highlands. I believe he felt that Duffy and Mueller unnecessarily ran the score up against NCC and was not happy about it. But that's something completely different than not being able to stand HHS. If I recall, he rather strongly voiced his displeasure with CovCath tacking on a last minute score against NCC a few years back, didn't he? My guess is if that was to happen more frequently, that series would end also.

And I want to echo what a lot of NCC grads have stated, Bob is a very fine gentleman. I've had the opportunity to get to know Bob pretty well over the last 5 plus years. Before then I bought into the "he hates Highlands stuff". I no longer feel that way. Not at all.

That post my friend we can completely agree with one another. :thumb:

Well put, as usual, LN. And you're correct, Bob was VERY upset with Coach Rodenberg at Cov Cath in 2005 when they were putting up points on the board in the fourth quarter of a 42-0 Cov Cath win. I can honestly say that as an alum working the game, I was embarrassed. I'd agree...if Cov Cath had kept up those practices, Coach Schneider would have likely dropped CCH from New Cath's schedule...and I would have backed Schneider 100% in that decision.

I believe firmly in the "win with class, lose with class" adage. Cov Cath almost always has enough players on the team to put in third string players once their lead is sufficient enough, and granted, if the backups to your backups are still putting points on the board, then there's not much you can do in that situation. That was not the case. There was no reason for Rodenberg to play the game like that.

Man, any coach or teacher that has been at this long should get a pat on the back.

In all seriousness, congrats to this man on a incredible career. No hard feelings on giving my daughter a C in his English test even though she aced the english portion of the ACT exam. Must have had something to do with the typewriter he lost in the spelling bee competition back in the late 50's.

How about, "I played against Coach Schneider and coached against Coach Schneider...and still haven't beaten Coach Schneider." (bet I'm not alone on that dubious list!)

Congrats Coach Schneider on a great career.

He deserves all the recognition he is receiving... I had a B in his class and didn't come close to your daughters ACT scores!!!:notworthy:

To coach for that length of time you have to love what you are doing and be passionate about the students. Coach Bear Bryant who coached for a number of years had a couple of quotes that I believe could be said of coach Schneider. "There's a lot of blood, sweat, and guts between dreams and success." or "The idea of molding men means a lot to me." Congrats Coach Schneider on your many years of service.....

First of all, yes.

 I will give you 19 reasons why Highlands is a better program than yours (as long as you didn't attend Trinity haha)

The year I graduated high school we wanted to play NCC so bad and they wanted to play us really bad, but there is only 1 reason we didn't play... Bob Schneider. I think but I am not 100% sure but he was on the board of control of the KHSAA at the time they took wins away from Highlands when the courts ruled that he was eligible. Again I am not sure, but I believe he had influence on that decision. If someone could clear that up it would help.

Look I am sure he is a good guy, I just don't agree with some of his decisions.
