He stated his dissatisfaction over the air last week with Bailey and others nitpicking around the plate instead of pounding the strikezone with fastballs. He said the obvious that all it did was run up the pitch count and tax the bullpen. The last 5 outings have looked like this for the starters after the Bailey implosion against the Cubs last Friday night. Harang 7 IP 2 ER 1 BB Leake 6 2/3 IP 3 ER 1 BB Arroyo 7 IP 1 ER 1 BB Cueto 9 IP 0 ER 0 BB Bailey 9 IP 0 ER 0 BB That's 38 2/3 IP 6 ER 3 BB Mighty impressive stats, to say the least. 1.40 ERA and 1 BB every 13 innings.... wow! Now, if they decide to challenge Prince Albert this weekend, the ERA will likely a hit. WALK HIM, WALK HIM, and WALK HIM some more!!!

They get swept and the city of Cincinnati will just look at them as pretenders. A close 2-1 series for the Cardinals and the questions will still be out there but a little belief. Reds go 2-1 or lo and behold sweep the inventor of the game's manager in LaRussa and the city will begin believing.
May 13, 201016 yr Author It's only May, but what a great environment it "SHOULD" be all weekend. Fans need to pack the place all 3 days. I'm a Chicago fan 1st, but I have sat through a lot of Reds crap while living in Kentucky the last several years. It would be nice to finally see the Reds really contend through September.

BUT, this would be a big series to build momentum throughout the summer by soundly handling the Cardinals this weekend. Let's not kid each other that if they are swept by the Cardinals this weekend, it will dampen any enthusiasm and the ticket sales at the gate. Right or wrong, that is what will happen. It may be May but this is a big series that could be an obstacle to overcome or a step to propel them forward.
