Top defense's in NKY for 2010 and why?

Featured Replies

I've seen there is alot of talent returnig to NKY this year. Which defense do yall believe will stand out from the rest if any at all. Should be an exciting year of football for both sides of the ball but remember defense wins championships so time to discuss!

SK's will be the best without a question. They return 13 starters and they are fast. :sssh:

There are so many things that contribute to a good defense; size, strength, desire, coaching, and....SPEED. In HS if you want to succeed IMO, speed and desire are the two things that separate you from everyone else. Highlands probably ranks first in most of these categories but other teams may be closing in on them. But until someone in NKY shuts down the Highlands O, I am going to say Highlands....Now to the ordinary teams, I'd say one of the 6A schools, SK or Ryle.

Now I know why they had a descent team last year. They had 13 on D.

Oh boy, defense! Yes! Well, if speed and desire are the two elements in making top defense, then case closed. Now add talent, tradition, dedication like no other and I mean no other, the will to succeed, then again case closed.

A defense that returns 7 to 8 legitimate starters from last season, one that absolutely attacks the ball, one that will let you know who you are playing, and one with a Defensive Coordinator second to none are ingredients for the areas best.

Now since i have come across as maybe the SKfanatic of Ft. Thomas, well, sorry, but I believe HHS will back it up and again prove why they are one of the best or the best defense next season in NKY.

Now, how many guessed it was an arrogant fan from Ft. Thomas? LOL!!!

OH Please!!! Lets not make these kids out to be something they are not. They are good but not that good. Only time will tell. They are going to be nasty though. :thumb:

TDY, I think you may be a little off on this number of returning starter's. Johnson,Dierg,Schneider,Roller,Alford, and Rosenhagen started last year(6). Unless we are going to play some kind of illegal defense those numbers don't add up. It may have seemed like we had 12 or 13 players out there though at one time.:scared:

The Bird's defense will be tough this year with the returning of two of the top hard hitting db's in Austin Abner and Drake Bruns. Lber's Brendon Sullivan, Billy Huddleston, Ben Dressman, and Quillen will be one hard hitting group. I was really impressed with Dressman during spring ball. He's got a nose for the ball and isn't affraid to lay a stick on ya!

You forgot to add they will Kill Ryle also.   :jump:

Help me with my math. I just read on Tri-State Sports were coach Marksberry said they lost 8 starters on D. Dose that mean they had 21 starters last year? :idunno: :idunno: :idunno:

Could someone post the returning defensive starters for HHS this year, along with a list of returning HHS defensive players with playing experience from 2009?

Hey, if other teams in NKY can play with 13 then why cant the Birds. :thumb:

I don't know about the best....but I know Cooper's defense will be much improved....with the sophomores coming up and they only lost 3 defensive players!!! they have the ability to be pretty good

At one safety, Seidel returns. At corner, Abner and Bruns return. At linebackers, Sullivan, Huddleston, Compton, and Quillen return. These guys started some or all games.

No starting d linemen return. None of the d linemen who will start this year got much experience last year (we were very deep at senior d linemen last year). If the d linemen develop and come through this year, Highlands D will be very, very good again this year. I'm confident that will happen.
