May 2, 201016 yr My partially finished basement is flooded!!!:irked: AA your not the only one. I've had the shop vac, mops, towells, and plenty of hard work to keep the damage small. Right now I just got to take a break before the next band of rain hits after while (why not). I'm thinking of building an ark and have the kids start gathering the animals.

Dude Noah's ark is the first thing that came to my mind!I have used the shop vac and have squeegeed with no avail.I am going to wait till tomorrow when it clears up to finish.Man this sucks,but so far does not touch the ice storm...Knock on Wood...:lol:
May 2, 201016 yr Just checked the kymesonet site and it said Madison County has gotten 4.62 inches of rain so far. It's still coming down here and there are some very bad spots on the roads. I had to leave my apartment because our internet went down and I had an assignment that needed to be submitted online. I have 4 entrances/exits to my complex and 3 of them had about a foot or more of fast-flowing water going by them. I didn't dare go through that in a '96 Celica that sits about 4 inches off the ground. Luckily, one of the exits was further up a hill and it was fine. Right now I'm bumming internet off of the local Goodyear, hoping the internet and satellite come back on at my apartment. Could be worse though, as someone in the building next to mine (on the bottom floor) is apparently flooded. When I was leaving, I noticed the landlord's truck and some kind of pump system running from that building. It's a mess out there. Unfortunately, I have to go in to work tonight sometime after dark, so I'm hoping this calms down a bit as it gets later.

May 3, 201016 yr Flood Emergency through Tonight! It has just started to rain heavily again here in Richmond Nwo- where abouts in Richmond are you? Off Four Mile road here and our subdiv is a river, along with my back yard, even at this hour.
May 3, 201016 yr Nashville is indescribable. The Cumberland River is completely flooded the city. People are being rescued from their subdivisions and interstates are closed. It is almost impossible to believe.

May 3, 201016 yr One report on Weather Channel said an area around Nashville got 22 inches of rain. THat is incredible. That is true. Nashville got 25% of their yearly rainfall totals over a 2 day period. Someone drowned yesterday in their vehicle on I-24. That is unfathomable in a large city.
May 3, 201016 yr Well, we had an interesting drive today. Left from Maysville at about 9:45 this morning to visit daughter in Georgetown. We knew where the high-water spots on 68 would be. Worst was just before the drive-in just before Paris. Probably a foot and a half of water and running fast. Our car got through, felt like it was floating part of the way. Check engine light flashed for a few seconds; must have gotten a little water somewhere it wasn't supposed to be. I can't imagine that they kept that stretch of road open for very long. We went back to Maysville via I75, 275 and the AA highway. 65 miles longer but only 45 minutes longer. Going back tomorrow evening for another music program; and we may just go the long way again.
May 3, 201016 yr Yes, Mason County schools are closed. We got the automated telephone call about an hour ago. 5.5 inches today and just over 6 total so far. I sure feel for the folks in Nashville; wasn't that long ago that our son went to school there. There were some pretty dramatic pics on TV.
