This is a sad excuse for an effort by the Cavs. I'll never defend LeBron again. He's the most talented player of all-time IMO, but he's a loser when it comes down to it. The "it" factor that guys like Jordan, Kobe, Magic, Duncan, Russell have/had just isn't there for him.

 

There's always an excuse, and I"m not making one for him this time. He wanted better teammates and he got them. His teammates have deficiencies, but every team in the league has their weaknesses. The style of ball he plays just doesn't work in the playoffs. Everyone stand around and watch and spot up. That strategy may have worked this year with a better supporting cast (I doubt it), but LeBron would have had to be aggressive.

 

I would love to be wrong and have the Cavs come back and win this series, but the Celtics own them. Cleveland had plenty of opportunities to take control of the series but didn't do it. Maybe it's that Boston is that much better or maybe it's the fact that LeBron just can't lead his team to a championship. For the first time in his career, I think it's the latter. On to football season and the next huge disappointment for my teams.

I think Mike Brown deserves some of the blame as well. He is truly awful. You have asked for more JJ Hickson the whole playoffs, he doesn't play Shaq enough, he put Z on the court. I don't know if you read Bill Simmons but he is so glad that Mike Brown hasn't played JJ Hickson because he knows that his athleticism poses problems for the old Celtics. Just keep in mind that it took MJ 4-5 years to reach the NBA Finals and LeBron has made it to the Finals. He is still young and tonight, even though he only had 11 shots by the 4th quarter he got absolutely no help from his teammates AND their team defense was putrid. I do look forward to listening to Around the Horn and PTI tomorrow though. Should be interesting.

Let's see Mike Brown do that ridiculous giggling routine after tonight's performance.

As I said, the Celtics are the better "team". They have the best PG, better big men, and one of the best 3pt shooters of all-time. Age is a huge factor with the Celtics, but when healthy they are one of the best teams in the league.

Cavs are trying to win a series.

Celtics KNOW they can win the series.

Simply, the Celtics know how to win in the playoffs while the Cavs are trying to learn how to win these big games.

Mike Brown is the worst coach in the league. That's not opinion, it's a fact.

 

1. Only an idot would play Big Z. Big Z is the worst player in the NBA right now. All he adds is an inconsistent 10-12 footer. He can't defend, move, or anything else.

2. Cleveland matched up well with Boston and LA when they started Hickson. Antawn Jamison is has always lost for a reason. He cannot guard a quality 4 man around the basket.

3. I have begged for Hickson, and some said they didn't need him. What a joke. He's not a HOF'er but he can legitimately guard the post and poses alot of problems in the pick and roll because of his athleticism.

4. Playing Daniel Gibson is retarded. Gibson is technically a PG, but he can't dribble, pass, or defend. He can shoot when he's on. He has no benefit outside of 7 to 8 games a year.

 

For all of Mo's faults, Mike hasn't played him enough. Mo couldn't guard the worst ballhandler in a nursing home. His job is to score and with LeBron wearing a skirt for 4 of the games in this series, maybe the offense should have ran through him.

 

Going to Shaq, when you're down in the 4th quarter is insane. "Let's put a 24% FT shooter at the line, that will get us back in the game!" Varajao continues to be a failure in the playoffs. Why no Jamario Moon? He's athletic, can defend, and brings alot of positive energy.

 

But it all goes back to LeBron. The team plays the way he plays. He has been passive in this series and the Cavs have been outworked, outhustled and outplayed.

 

The crazy thing is that I think the Cavs could still win this series. They'll probably just pack it in and get humiliated in game 6, but if they play their style of basketball they could do it. But, their inconsistency and overdependence on LBJ is going to kill them, if it hasn't already.

He's young and makes mistakes, and takes a appreciate, but I'd rather takes my chances with him than Jamsion because Jamison cannot guard Garnett, and would have been raped by Gasol had they got there.
