Holy Cross Coaching Position

Does Boone not have enough girls to develop (underclassman) instead of recruiting. This is highschool??? Crazy. Why not develop the kids in your own system and make that the challenge of being a Great coach. NCC does.

Curious...how many kids from Ft Thomas and Campbell County head to NCC?

Did not mean to break any rules. If I broke this rule then so did previous threads. I guess they used better words. I do not have anything against Boone, I think they have a great program. I guess I am sour when I see kids getting lost in the mix and had talent. I just simply stated do they not have enough girls to develop? Sorry if I offended anyone, just an observation!!!!!

Not offended at all!! you have the right to post your opinions...

Honestly Bearcat, I've heard the exact same arguments, word-for-word, for so many years...and I just let it go in one ear and out the other. As for this topic, you will find many times that someone will toss out a "rumor" (Boone/Nell Haters) and this board goes wild! the person that posted the comment usually sits back and chuckles while we go at it...

Read what I said. I said the board member you talked with could have a "point of view which MAY be biased". Therefore that member "may" be prone to "emphatically" state how 19 other members of a board of which he is a member might rule.

I could ask you the same question......did you talk to all members of the board? No, you stated you only talked with one. But you were quick to jump to the fore with his "opinion" on how a appeal......one that never occurred......would have gone.

While I haven't talked to anyone on the board I would question why the board, certainly as a group, would discuss a single particular ruling by the Commissioner. Did some discuss it among themselves? That's possible but since you talked to but one member about that then that's an unknown as well.

Speculation is bound to happen on a message board in matters such as this. Message boards are full of that sort of thing. But even speculation should be tempered with some degree of reasonableness as opposed to broad conclusions based on a single bit of information that supports one's obvious position.

Talking to one person out of as group of 20 and then drawing a conclusion that the group of 20 would support your position, simply because the one you talked with does, is still speculation. Surely you can see that.

What are the "facts"? The transfer occurred because of reasons the county board felt were valid. Those reasons surely were used in the request for eligibility to the KHSAA and the Commissioner, acting per the KHSAA guidelines, also felt the reasons were valid and granted eligibility. The sending school chose not to appeal. The rest is history so why challenge it all again? It's done. And yes, labels do stick for a long time, particularly if one continues to flash those labels for all to see.

Frank, I do honestly respect your posts but I hope you are not directing your last statement at me. Don't put a bad label on me because the same label could be used on you in a similar way. That can go both ways. That aside, I have learned from this thread that speculation, innuendos, predictions, etc. should be left alone. I stated I didn't know if he talked to all of the board, I just told you what that one individual said and it wasn't just some guy in the seats. I guess I've learned that it's not even enough to talk to someone involved. All of us, including myself, seem to be good at picking a statement apart and trying to make the person seem wrong. Whatever happened or happens is in someone else's hands. I repeated what the man said to me and that wasn't enough, yet others make accusations and use rumors and very little is said to them. I've pretty much had it with hearing what goes on at Boone, NewCath, Ryle, Conner, etc. from people who don't go right to the source. I did and it still doesn't matter so I give up.

To all, I've said my piece and I hope no one is labeling anyone else in any way. We really don't know each other and it's unfair from either side to assume things about each other. I've learned my lesson and I hope I can now be left out of this conversation. I am sorry if I offended anyone.

You have no idea how happy I am to hear that.

NCC and Brossart do not have a common feeder school. St. Joe's is a feeder school for Brossart, NOT NCC. However, if you go to St. Joe's and want to go to NCC, you can, but you have to pay out of district tuition. So for clarification purposes, St. Joe's is in Brossart's district.

I believe the diocese has dropped the out of district tuition penalty. Not sure if they still have in District and out of District distinctions, but I am pretty sure the financial penalty no longer exists.

Let's also face facts. St. Joseph has always had a large number of students go to NewCath. From the 80's on St. Joes has had a significant number of students heading to NewCath/OLP now NCC.

It's not like it is some new phenom that is occurring. Shoot in my day over 50% of the boys always went to NewCath.

I guess I was wrong then, but I thought if you were out of district you had to pay a higher tuition. So, if you lived in Cold Spring and wanted to go to Notre Dame or CovCath, your tuition wouldn't be any higher? I think Brossart once dropped (and maybe it's still true today) the increase in tuition back in the 80's if you were at St. Joes's because NCC enrollment was very low. But now that enrollment is back up, not sure if the increase is still waived.

There is no longer out of district tuition. If you come from a diocese Grade School all students pay the same. I know this holds true for St. Pius, St. Agnes stc. students that go to Holy Cross.

One last post: I have decided, to the joy of many, to stop posting, unless I have to defend myself, and let my subscription run out. I have decided to just be a fan and let kids be kids. I don't imagine any of us would have enjoyed having our games and decisions disected by people, like myself, who don't even know all the details of a situation. I know there are some areas that are good for discussion, but I'm going with the "it is what it is " philosophy and leave the kids out of it. These transfers and speculative transfers have been put through the wringer (I'm guilty of it also) so I'm asking on behalf of the kids to let them be kids. I think I finally understand the position it puts the players in.

Does he want to coach the boys or does he want to stay home with his young family?

If you know Coach Minor, coaching will always be in his blood. He will make that choice if an opportunity presents itself.

Its not a requirement to go to a Diocese grade school. The only requirement is that you are registered with a parish in the Diocese.

The Beal girl is not transferring, so why are people talking about it?

...and Boone was never a possibility.
