July 18, 201214 yr Going the other way with a well done remake, I loved both the original and remake of 12 Angry Men. Both Cape Fear's were very good as was the True Grit remake.
July 18, 201214 yr Walking Tall was horific, but it was really only a remake very very loosely based on the original. I don't think of it as a remake as much as a just a rip off of the original title.
July 19, 201214 yr Many remakes of movies completely suck, especially in horror. The only horror remake that I considered okay was The Amityville Horror, the rest of them have not been good at all IMO. As far as horror remakes are concerned, The Fog was really bad; the original was far better. As far as other movie remakes are concerned, Walking Tall goes down as one of my all time worst.

July 19, 201214 yr I also think there is a sense of nostalgia and many refuse to let go that their first movie could no way be as good as something created today. I call baloney. Same for people the refuse to believe television is as good as it once was when there were only 4 channels with the Lone Ranger and I Love Lucy. I watched about 10 minutes of the original Tarzan a couple days ago. I have seen parts of the 1933 original King Kong. The effects, acting, and quality are nowhere in comparison. The animals actually resemble animals. Now that does not replace the acting or artistic work that may have gone in to it, but I refuse to think everything now produced is always worse as many will lead you to believe. The lack of originality is frustrating, sure.
