Had you ever heard of this guy before this story? That is the point I am making. It really has little to do with what was said. It is about who said it. If Imus made these Nazi comments, it would be a much bigger story and would be getting the national play you all are talking about.

It's still racist, it's still the same company that fired Imus, and it's still the point that this hasn't been talked about and nothing has been done to the racist who made the remarks.

April 27, 201016 yr What would you expect? Is this something that should be a big national story? If the guy who said this was on ESPN or a similar nationwide broadcast, it probably would be a bigger story. But if we start trying to make national stories out of all the off hand comments local radio guys make, the news will probably last for 2 hours every night. Those guys make their money running on the edge and they often go too far. Yes, it should. In this day of 24/7 it certainly would be if the circumstances were different.
April 27, 201016 yr Do we know what Fred's race is? Both Toucher and his co-host Rich are white. Really not a big deal in my opinion, they guys was trying to make a joke, didn't come across as funny as he thought it would. I see no reason for him to be fired over this, nor did I see any reason to fire Imus. If you don't like it turn the channel and the ratings and advertising will be the shows downfall. I'm not sure exactly when it started, but some in this country seem to think that you have a right not to be offended. But like it or not we still have freedom of speech. The show isn't really your typical sports show, it's sports mixed with a bit of shock jock. If you recall this is the same show that put a plant with the "Iron my shirt" sign in the crowd at one of Hillary's campaign speeches.

April 28, 201016 yr Its the term Nazi, we all know that and what the term stands for. In fact it felt weird typing it out just now. It was an unfair quote and meant to hurt Tim's image. The guy deserves whatever he gets and needs to get something. Nothing should be compared to this.

It's okay for a couple reasons though... 1) He was talking about a Caucasian. 2) It wasn't mainstream media. 3) He apologized shortly after. :idunno:
