Holmes Casting Wide Net in Coaching Search

Featured Replies

One of the requirements from the career builder posting:

Prior head coaching experience with demonstrated evidence of success.

As I have posted more than once, Holmes will hire a head coach with a track record of success. Nothing against Coach Wimzie at all but this is why I don't think he will be the next coach and it also is why I think Coach Sullivan likely will not be the coach.

I agree VOR, and as I have said in a previous post in a different thread, the AD Madrick is the best and most unconventional AD in Northern Kentucky. His thinking is way outside the box. Local ties are nice, but he wants "the best coach available", not " the best coach with some connection to Holmes." Henley had zero ties to Northern Kentucky prior to accepting the position, and will go down as the best Holmes boys basketball coach up to this point because of the crown. If Wimzie feels like he can help the new coach, you know he will stay and help his alma mater.

What an opportunity and challenge for the next coach of the Bulldogs.

"demonstrated evidence of success" doesn't necessarily mean 500 wins. I don't think this rules out coach Sullivan at all.

Why would Wimzie stay and help? If he really wants to be the head coach of Holmes and he's passed over b/c he doesn't have experience why in the world would he not go be a head coach somewhere?

I don't think he wants to be the head coach. He also may not be certified/qualified from an academic perspective. Bud is awesome-so please don't misunderstand my comments-I think he is a key cog in the wheel at Holmes, but some guys like being in an assistant role as opposed to being the head man, and I think this applies to Wimzie.

Other candidates that I think could have a shot-with problem stated behind them.

Scott Humphrey-GRC-likes Northern Kentucky-not 100% sure he could deal with some of the pressing issuers at Holmes.

Steve-Wright-South Laurel-is from Northern Kentucky, but makes alot of ca$h @ Souht Laurel.

Kevin Listerman-former head coach at Bellevue and Boone County-now an assistant at Colerain. Understands the area, the school, etc. Similar to Colerain and Boone from a coaching perspective, but has been a bit of a coaching vagabond.

Wimzie does want to be head coach. He's been there 16 years, that's experience with the Holmes program that no one else will care about more. He has shown his dedication to the school. They'd be making a mistake if they didn't hire him.

I would find it hard to believe they would even consider him.

If that is true, then absolutely he should be strongly considered.

Why would Wimzie stay and help?

Because he cares about the community and kids that go to Holmes. Kudos to Big John he cares about the kids not what hat he's wearing...:ylsuper:

We need more like him working with our student/athletes.

Maybe they'll hire the coach of the state champs...

MAYBE! A lot of certified and qualified applicants from across the state of KY and OHIO.

When will they be doing interviews and how many candidates are they going to look at? My goodness, I could only imagine how many applicants that they've had.:eyeonyou:

Why is that? Just curious.
