America: The Story of Us

Featured Replies

Anybody else watching this program on History Channel? I enjoyed the first episode and can't wait for the next.

Yes. Last night's first show was excellent. They are including a lot of details that I had never heard before - like the small pox vaccination process at Valley Forge and that 10% of all Americans can trace their ancestry to the Mayflower.

I enjoyed this show as well and looking forward to the next episode.

I believe it would be a good tool to use in the classroom.

How many episodes will be included in this series? I think six but not sure.

I watched it and was very impressed. I had forgotten the Pilgrams took up arms with the Indians to defeat another tribe. The Revolutionary War segment reminded me of the Patriot with Mel Gibson. Good stuff.

I had been looking forward to this series for months and it didn't disappoint.

Could anyone tell me the time and days this show airs???

History Channel is offering the first episode on DVD to each and every school free of charge. Go to their website for more information.

Agree, they had some really great facts on there.

Thanks for the info. I will forward it on to my colleagues.

However, I checked out the link and I read it to say that the entire 12-hour series will be available free of charge. Am I misreading that?

That sounds even better. I had not been to the website but going on the television commercial. It was 3 am when I was watching it, so I could have misunderstood it.

I thought it was interesting showing the British attack on New York City and making the correlation that there had not been another attack on NYC to that degree till 9/11.

Also, thought it was very interesting that Cornwallis was waiting for reinforcements in Yorktown but over in Britain support for the war had soured as they said it was too costly and had gone on too long.

Seems it does not matter the country or the time period that citizens view wars the same way whether they are good actions or not.

I watched it last night and loved it.
