So astonishingly began a "60 Minutes" segment last Sunday actually praising the former President that likely got worse press than anyone ever to reside in the White House.

 

"Millions of Africans who`d been dying of AIDS are now living with AIDS, thanks to the Bush program," said CBS's Bob Simon.

 

"There has never been a rescue mission, a mission of mercy of this magnitude that has produced such magnanimous results," praised an AIDS doctor in Uganda".

I've said it before that history will prove he was a better president than what is believed now by some.

I know. If you remember I was chastised when I said it back during the election.

This was one of several things I heartily agreed with Bush on, and am happy that he did.

I believe Bush is a good man and wanted what was best, but I think his biggest problem was the people he surrounded himself with.

His work with and aid to the African aids epidemic was very commendable :thumb:

 

I can't see this rose amoung thorns turning his legacy around though:D

Years ago when this first started I listened to a radio interview with a Bush detractor who was absolutely berating GWB because he wasn't doing this for the "right reasons", it was all a political game. The guy was getting exactly what he had been pushing for and was still ranting. It was really pretty funny.

No doubt this makes up for all the lives he's responsible for taking in the Middle East. Way to go Bush!!!!!

This reminds me of a PolySci class I had a year or two ago. The professor, easily the most liberal prof. I had the pleasure of dealing with, stated to much of the classes disapproval that President Bush would be thought of in a much more positive light 20-30 years from now, and that many that despised him today would view his presidency in a positive light. Her basic premise was that Presidents are never as good or as bad as people view them while in office. People have to give the policies and implementations time to develop, which takes much longer than 8 years, to accurately judge their successes and failures. I tend to agree.

I posted an article on here many moons ago that said Bush sent more aid to Africa than any other US President and if memory serves was the only US President to visit Africa in their second term.

Let there be no doubt that GW had some nice accompishments in office. There is no way someone can be President for 8 years and not have accomplishments and proud moments. I thought his leadership immediately following the 9/11 crisis was excellent. That does not change the fact that IMO he and Jimmy Carter are the two worst Presidents since Herbert Hoover.

That's your immediate opinion though. In order to get an accurate perspective on his presidency, you'll have to withhold final judgement for a while longer IMO.
