Red Sox & Yankees "A Disgrace To Baseball"

According to umpire Joe West.

I'm really surprised to see an umpire come out and say this publicly...but I'm glad he did. It'd be interesting to see what happens the next time he's behind the plate with these two teams.

And if these particular players don't want to cooperate, then I'd love to see an ump start calling balls or strikes if a pitcher or batter is delaying.

Just like a player who publicly criticizes an umpire, an umpire who criticizes players should expect to be fined.

Although I think he is correct about needing to speed up play I completely agree with you on this. :thumb:

UPS is hiring, you don't like your job, bid off.

It has nothing to do with liking his job.

I can't wait to see the strike zone the next time Country Joe has the plate, and Mariano Rivera is on the mound.:lol:

"If he has places to go, let him do something else. What does he want us (the players) to do, swing at balls? ... We don't want to play four-hour games, but that's what it takes. We respect and love the fans and do what we have to do, and that's play our game."

Coach, that made no sense, guy complaining about the lenth of a game and blaiming two teams, and he has to stay out there longer on the field in his mind and can't go eat?

Find something else to do or retire. Thats my advice, now explain your comment.

It's pretty obvious. His comments were directed at the fact that the Yankees and Red Sox make the game unnecessarily slower than it has to be, and he's embarrassed by it. He doesn't think it's good for the game.

How that has anything to do with him being unhappy with his job, I have no clue. Not sure how you made that leap in assumption...:idunno:

Dead on. :thumb:

I've heard more than one person say that if Country Joe's strike zone was just a bit bigger than the proverbial breadbox, the game might move along.

Mustang, its easy, he doesn't get overtime. Yankee games are always long, been a fan since 1960. Why else would the Ump cry? Season just started, and he is moaning, retire.

Trying to be nice

Cry, or tell the truth.

:thumb: Very well said, it's nice to see an ump fighting back for a change. I guess as a fan he's as sick of it as everyone else is.
