I actually wouldn't mind seeing Mossakowski get it. It depends on what they want Hartline to do, whether he will be successful or not. Why would you want a redshirt freshman to start? I am not necessarily disagreeing but just curious.
April 8, 201016 yr UK fans have seen Mike Hartline and Morgan Newton both play and they have not been particularly impressed with their performances. Therefore, Kentucky fans are rooting for Ryan Mossakowski to be the starter. I can't see this happening. UK fans can't see the Cats winning ballgames with Mike Hartline at quarterback because they have not seen how much improvement this kid has made. I would ask for doubters to come to the scrimmage on Saturday morning or the spring game on April 24th and see for yourself how much this kid has improved. I have not been named Mike Hartline's press agent and I am not endorsing him as a Heisman candidate for 2010, but he has improved to the point where he is capable of winning ballgames under center as the Kentucky quarterback in 2010. I apologize to some of you who don't want him to play. Many people didn't want Andre Woodson to play after his dismal freshman and sophomore seasons, but things were different the next two seasons, weren't they?

A big reason they were different is because they started designing the offense and calling plays to his strength. They took a lot of the decision making process away from him and allowed him to just play.

IF this guys shoulder has healed properly, he is a stud. Great arm, athletic enough to run. Good size. etc...
April 8, 201016 yr Hartline is the safe pick. He's not going to win games with his arms, but he won't lose them either. Joker needs a successful season and might not want to risk it on a sophomore with 6-7 games experience or a RS-FR. But another way I look at it is that starting Hartline may be a way to break in Mossakowski. That could be way off, but if they wanted to go with Newton they would just do it since he has experience. I don't know if you want a RS-FR. taking the first snaps of the season but he could possibly unseat Hartline after a few games. I don't know about Newton's speed (I don't think it could be THAT good), but he has alot of size so maybe he goes to TE? I still have hope for him at QB, but the coaches could/might not if they want to go with Hartline.

April 8, 201016 yr If someone cannot beat out Mike Hartline for the starting job, then Kentucky is in for a very long season. The Cats need a QB that actually makes the defense think about defending the pass.

If you factor in eligibility, it is a much tougher decision, in my opinion. If Mike Hartline does not give you a legitimate chance to win seven, eight, or nine games, it would make sense to go with one of the younger quarterbacks. If Mike Hartline plays, and the Cats go .500, I think it could be viewed as the wrong decision because you are nearly starting over again at quarterback the next season, and you have lost some of the momentum of the program. This is why I think Coach Phillips is faced with a very difficult decision and one that, if wrong, it does not start his career as the Head Coach of UK football very well.

April 8, 201016 yr Hartline with a leg up...Wildcats with a leg down in SEC... :thumb: I couldn't agree more. If Harline is the best we can do, I can sense some big time trouble for the Wildcats this year.
