That is just because it is the only thing we have ever seen. If there was a standard apparel, we would not be thinking how wonderful it would be for them to be in a baseball uniform.

April 6, 201016 yr First of all, managing or coaching a baseball team is nothing like the same in any other sport. They're out there in the duggout and on the field. It's dirty work. :lol: Plus, I think it signifies they're a part of the team. IMO, that's significant in a symbolic way.

There a multitude of sports played on a field but baseball is the only one that has not evolved in managerial garb. I always thought it maybe had something to do with player/manager roles from way back when.

I am not saying a suit and tie necessarily. It would not "be right" simply because it is all we know. It is a very unusual tradition. Is there a rule against wearing something besides a uniform in MLB?
