They obviously have a niche sound similar to Bon Iver. So far not hearing too much difference from one song to the next, but I do very much dig the mellow relaxed emotional approach.

 

This is also bringing to mind Canadian Patrick Watson a little bit as well.

The smoothness of his voice calls to mind American alt/country influenced Brit Peter Bruntnell.

I've got his album This Empty Northern Hemisphere from several years back. Haven't listened to it in a while, but I definitely like it.

I'll have to check it out because I'm diggin' what I'm hearin' from this guy... Only wish I would've heard of him sooner because looking back through his tour diary it shows that he's played in the Cincy area 4 times since 2013 as a warmup at the Madison in Covington, 20th Century in Oakley, and the Taft downtown, as well as a 2013 appearance at the Bunbury. His present tour doesn't have him coming anywhere nearby. :cry:

Been recently digging on this tune not knowing who it was, and didn't realize until today that this is a guy singing. It truly never even entered my mind that it was anything but a girl.

 

Now that I've said that it's a guy, I suppose that there's less of a chance of catching anyone off guard if you know going in that it's a guy, but I've been fooled about 10 times now hearing it on the radio until I finally thought to look it up.

Really love this tune.

He was in the news some years ago when Malia Obama posted a selfie in his merch that caused hubbub due to the "graphic" nature of his lyrics.

 

Really talented dude who's finally starting to gain some traction in the mainstream.

That's kind of like how Ryan Adams doing a song-by-song cover of Taylor Swift's "1989" made me appreciate how good a songwriter she is, if only other people were doing her songs. His cover of "Bad Blood" is amazingly good.
