What New Music Are You Listening To?

Dig this song.

Sounds perhaps like an old Allman Brothers tune, but I can't put my finger on it.

Who do you hear?

It's not new by any stretch of the imagination, but I am amazed at how many people I have introduced this artist to who have never heard of her, and that is a crime by commercial radio. Brandi Carlisl

This one's not new, but it's new to me.

Cincinnati band "500 Miles To Memphis"

I dig the Alt Country sound that it has. The dopey vocals sorta reminds me of David Lowery from Cracker mixed with a bit of Whiskeytown, and the pace, and a bit of the melody reminds me Lynyrd Skynyrd's - Tuesday's Gone.

Caught this Nashville guy Ruston Kelly this past late summer as the last act at a free music fest in Bellevue Beach Park along the Ohio River in Bellevue, Ky on a nice evening, and was pleasantly surprised.

Nice voice along the lines of Ryan Adams.

Lil Dicky....hilarious but I find myself listening to his stuff at the gym. Decent beats but very different.

The videos are hilarious.

I remember these guys from back in the late 80's (Romeo's Daughter), only because lead singer, Leigh Matty was quite the "looker".

The manager of the band was Olga Lange, then the wife of Robert John "Mutt" Lange. Mutt Lange was impressed by their song-writing abilities and agreed to produce (part of) their debut album, John Parr produced the other half. Bonnie Tyler, Eddie Money, & Heart (

) have covered some of their songs.

The following is off the their 2012 release "Rapture", very catchy tune...give it 60 seconds and you'll listen to it all the way thru, GUARANTEED!

This song isn't really new. It's been played live for over a year. But it finally appeared on an album...the Avett Brothers released Live Vol. 4 in December.

I've never heard of this band before.

In a way she sorta reminds me of Ann Wilson from Heart

How did you come across them years ago...radio, MTV, other?

What song of theirs would be their most recognizable, perhaps I'm familiar with it.

Funny you mention this, Heart actually covered one of their songs off their debut album from 1988, "Wild Child".

I like this acoustic version from Romeo's Daughter better, from 2015...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JRImsbhYMg

I dig the acoustic version more too. She brings a nice sexy sultry sound with her vocals that's easy on the ears. I'm a sucker for the acoustic tone as well.

Nat Rateliff & the Night Sweats Tiny Desk concert on npr...

Leon Bridges knocks it out of the park...in the npr Tiny Concert arena!

Lianne LeHavas is pretty remarkable...
