It's not new by any stretch of the imagination, but I am amazed at how many people I have introduced this artist to who have never heard of her, and that is a crime by commercial radio. Brandi Carlisl

I've only heard the couple songs from that album that got radio play on WFPK here in Louisville, and I honestly didn't like them at all. Is anything else on the album really that much different?

CWB was right on with this one. Sturgill Simpson is here to save country music (if that's even possible). I haven't heard good country music in years until he came along. Chris Stapleton is pretty good too (another KY boy I think?)

Just came across The Lone Bellow.

The Lone Bellow - Self-Titled Debut Now Available

Good call...

Really dig their sound.

Goofed up April of 2013 when they played a free show at a small club called Mayday in Northside when they were opening for another group I really dig named Ivan & Alyosha, and at the last minute I blew off going even after having sampling their tunes which I dug.

I couldn't get anyone to go, and since the hood around the club is a little dicey and desolate, and shows there don't typically start until 10:00, I decided not to go because I had already caught Ivan & Alyosha a couple of years earlier at an amazing intimate show at the old Southgate House in the parlor.

The Lone Bellow are scheduled to play the 20th Century on Dec 9th for 20+ bucks which still isn't bad considering their quality.

Still kicking myself though for passing on a free show that I know that without a doubt I would've dug. :(

My wife and I are big fans of Mayday.

That's cool... both those acts would've filled that place up nicely with some great ear candy.

I need to keep a closer eye on the place 'cause their track record would indicate that they attract some quality bands.

Was just checking out their food menu. I've never eaten there. Have you ever tried them, and if so what did you think? Good burgers???

Good food, indeed. Burgers are tasty. Good beer selection.

Thanks... I'll have to check them out.

I see that they also have an open mic, and If I could ever get the nerve back up to do it, might be a good place to work out my jitters.

Listened to Sturgill Simpson for the first time today. Reminds me a ton of Waylon...I'm a fan.

It's definitely a different album for Ryan, but then most of them are. He doesn't seem to sit still for very long.

I think the second half of the album is stronger than the first, but I enjoy both. Ryan killed it in Columbus, btw.
