AHSPanther23 Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Former UCLA Coach and current ESPN Analyst Steve Lavin. Lavin succeeds Roberts at St. John's
UKMustangFan Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Lavin will show his coaching abilities (or lack thereof), with this group next season. He inherits a really talented roster. In other coaching news, that I haven't seen mentioned yet, Al Skinner is out at BC...
CatsCatsCats Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 I bet he does a good job. It's his kind of position I think.
Hangman Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Seems like an out of left field kind of hire to me... Didn't realize he was so young as head man at UCLA... Mid-30s for a job like that is pretty crazy.
HOMELESS CAMEL Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 I had to go back and revisit what Lavin did at UCLA and was surprised to find out, he basically had one bad season and then was fired. I believe it was GT that said St Johns has the kids in place to have a run next year, then the 2nd year might be tricky for a new coach.
gametime Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Only one way to tell if a guy truly is a great recruiter. How hot is his wife... Yup. Great recruiter...
UKMustangFan Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 ^Also looks like she was probably a coed at UCLA when he was there...

NEXT Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 GT, your evaluation of recruiting skills are TOP notch!
UKMustangFan Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Ever been to the UCLA campus? Smart man... If only I had college to do all over again...Now that I'm wiser and enjoy some "diversity"....
Jim Schue Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 I had to go back and revisit what Lavin did at UCLA and was surprised to find out, he basically had one bad season and then was fired. I believe it was GT that said St Johns has the kids in place to have a run next year, then the 2nd year might be tricky for a new coach. Yeah, but didn't he get busted for some violations? I thought that's what led to his ouster.
Hangman Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Yeah, but didn't he get busted for some violations? I thought that's what led to his ouster. That's what led to Jim Harrick's dismissal and gave way for Lavin to get the job... And then he later got busted for violations again @ Georgia before Felton took over. As far as I know, Lavin was clean.
