March 24, 201016 yr Does anyone take Melatonin to help them fall asleep or sleep through the night? I often find myself having issues actually falling asleep and I wake up at least 3 times, sometimes 4 or 5 per night. It gets a little annoying and I was reading about Melatonin and figured I might try it out. Anyone ever tried it?
March 24, 201016 yr I used to take it for the same reason. My doctor said that regular use of Melatonin causes your body to stop making it naturally. It should only be for occasional use. I take two Advil PM's every night and sleep like a baby. Even better is Bayer pm which I sometimes take in place of it. Unfortunately Bayer pm has a lot of aspirin in it and will thin your blood too much if you take it daily. Both use Benedryl as a sleep agent. For some reason, Benedryl alone didnt work for me.
March 24, 201016 yr Author ^ I've tried Advil PM and it doesn't work for me at all. I might consider taking a small dose of Melatonin when I think that I need some extra sleep. You think that might be a good solution?
March 24, 201016 yr I've used it occasionally. I took it 10 minutes before bedtime and it did help me fall asleep. My son used it in College too sleep.

March 24, 201016 yr Do you recommend a certain mg count? I was thinking 3? Yes. 3 mg. is what I took, and that is what my son took too.
March 24, 201016 yr Author Yes. 3 mg. is what I took, and that is what my son took too. Thanks :thumb: I'll see if it helps out. I'm done feeling miserable in the morning.

Oooh I hope not. My dad has that and has to wear a mask when he sleeps. I don't think I'm old enough to develop sleep apnea.

I have never tried to take anything or done anything about it. The majority of the time I feel like I can't sleep cause my mind just wonders to a million different things I have going on, probably due to stress. But the most frustrating thing is waking up at least 3 times every single night and I really have no idea why. It is very frustrating.
March 24, 201016 yr Those of you who have trouble sleeping at night, what is your usual caffeine and sugar intake?

March 24, 201016 yr I've taken melatonin. It does work for the most part, but you have to take it for a little while before it really kicks in.
March 24, 201016 yr Author Those of you who have trouble sleeping at night, what is your usual caffeine and sugar intake? Not a lot at all. I eat 2 meals on a good day and I drink about 32 ounces of Gatorade per day and that's about all my sugar intake is. Not a candy eater, chew gum sometimes...
