It was a shame SC drew Ballard. I was very impressed with their team. I Truely don't believe anyone could have beat this team today except Ballard. Their rebounding and threes polished this team to a T. If you haven't already guessed I have already pick my state champion.:jump:

This was a very entertaining game to watch and much closer than the final score reveals. I think the best team advanced helping setup what should be great early session on Friday.

I agree, I have seen both teams play. I felt that Shelby Co would keep it close, but that in the end Ballard would pull away.

What part did you not understand? Someone called him a shooting guard, I said he was more a point guard. Huh?

 

Let me ask a simple question and I will try to use words with less than five letters.

 

Everybody's saying "huh?" because you're wrong. My memory fits with what REH5 has listed below. I'm think most everyone else's fits with that as well. Lofton was not the primary ballhandler. If I recall correctly, Grutza did most of that work.

 

While memories (especially mine) can get cloudy over time I thought Lofton did most of his damage coming off hard screens and picks. I remember him being a good ball handler but what I remember best he could get the shot off in a hurry and had unlimited range. He had a great career at Tennessee but I always wondered what kind of legend he would have built under the old Bobby Knight system at Indiana that made Steve Alford so great coming off a series of hard picks and screens. Either way he was one of the most enjoyable players I have ever watched and that goes back to the late 1950's.

This was a great game to watch. Big time athletes on both teams. Lots of plays made above the rim. Hicks from Shelby - WOW.

The Shelby County school district is opening a second high school next fall, called Martha Layne Collins High School. Typically when a new school opens, in-coming seniors are allowed to stay at their previous school (which would be Shelby County High for Hicks), while anyone in the in-coming junior or sophomore class have to go to their district school. That's why Hicks could end up at Collins.

Jones was amazing for Ballard. I heard he was going to Bellarmine. Seems like a D-1 school would be looking at him with his athleticism and shooting touch.

After today's game, somehow Jones has managed to go 3 complete games without a single assist. Jones, like many Kentucky high school talents, has developed to play a position that doesn't suit his height. At 6'3, Jones is more of a power forward who can step out and hit the three on ocassions. There's just not many wing or power forwards at 6'3 at the D1 level. He's heckuva player though.
