Woodford County Head Coach Job

Featured Replies

There is a former college bball player who has been a successfull coach for at least 15 years. He teaches in woodford co. But is the jv coach at west jessamine and just won the jv regional (the school's 1st). Why wouldn't they ask him? If it's really open.

Are you speaking of Keith Heady? He is a great basketball coach and was a great find for Coach Kelley.

I think Hundley would do a great job at woodford. Whenever you are part of a D1 program and have won a state championship, I believe you know a little something about how to run a program.

I'd take Hundley over a LOT of guys with head coaching experience.

Amen brother!!!!!!!!!!:ylsuper:

Sorry to rattle the Scott Hundley fan club. I'm just not privy to how much players and assistants are involved in organizing the youth programs, basketball camps, summer ball, scheduling, planning, and lets not forget booster/parents. That's what the new coach at Woodford needs to be able to do. Woodford has been taking chances for too long. If he has the ability to do these things better than others then he should be hired.

I can not talk for his time at Scott County, but he is very involved at MOntgomery County and even has his own shooting camp and web site. He knows what it takes to be a head coach.

By chances do you mean Brad Mefford 3 seasons, Bob Gibson (Athletic Director) 3 seasons, or Gene Kirk 20+ seasons? Doesn't seem like they have taken all the chances you think they have.

With that said they may want to hire an experienced coach who had already shown he can do all these things but they may give a young coach the opportunity to prove he can do all the things you mentioned.

and web site. He knows what it takes to be a head coach.

Why is running a website a part of what it takes to be a head coach?

I wonder if Champ Ligon might be interested in this position?

An impressive site for a young coach who seems to be an up and coming one that will be a household name very soon!:thumb:

This job might be risky for Hundley. It will take a few years to build it up and if it doesn't work out it would make his chances of replacing Hicks in a few years harder. As of now he is the favorite son who is in perfect position to come back and take over the reigns of Cardinal nation. Just my opinion.

I don't think any coach would take over for Hicks without having head coaching experience, Hundley or not. The only exceptions to this would be those currently on staff.

Why haven't the last 2 coaches even coached their first graduating class? Wow just think how good some hall of famers like Bobby Keith could have been if they had a website!
