March 9, 201016 yr The Fort Wright police issued a request for information today through email on this terrible crime. So sad for the victim and their family. I sure hope they catch the low life's that did this.
March 9, 201016 yr Its not a rough place at all and remember it happened outside of the Bar.... Bar/clubs have very little control of what happens outside of their doors. As for the hit the autopsey will tell more, did he die from the initial punch or hitting his head on the ground... But they do control how much they serve on the inside. I have only been to Dickman's a few times but each time I was there I noticed several people just slugging draft beer like it was going out of style and getting drunk. I wouldnt call it a hillbilly bar but it certainly isnt an innocent laid back sports bar. With as much money as Dickman is making by selling liquid courage he should invest in some sort of security officer to maintain some control. From what I have read on other news sites it seems that the group got ambushed and this young man was sucker punched. All it takes is one hit in the right spot to kill a person and alcohol once again rears its ugly head. I am quite sure that the perp in this tragedy will be caught its just very sad for the family of the victim.

I agree that liquid courage had a lot to do with this, but a single punch out of nowhere (as reported), would have been difficult to foresee and/or stop even if there was an army out there. Dickmans has been there many years and as far as I know, this is the first such incident they have had. Why would/should they hire security? I have a friend who owns a bar. Few limits are put on the drinking but cabs are always encouraged with numbers visible on the wall, and the bartenders are happy to call for you. Most patrons can walk home or have designated drivers. The bartenders have been known to take people home from time to time. If you get out of control, and it happens, you dont come back. I personally dont know any bar that is an "innnocent bar." In any bar, some people are always going to "over do" it. As far as having security, a couple of the bartenders can take care of business when things get out of control. This was a terrible thing to happen, but in reality it could happen in anyplace that serves alcohol.
March 9, 201016 yr I feel bad for all the parties involved here, the majority of people have at least one story of a drunken confrontation in their life, sometimes they go bad, I would venture to say the "punk" that hit this guy is far from a hardened killer. Sad story and multiple lives will be ruined for a good time and being the tough guy.

There job is to control what goes on inside of the bar and the fight happened outside... It is an unfortunate incident that could happen weekly with all the sloppy drunks, and wanna be's out there, but Dickman should not be in the spotlight.
March 9, 201016 yr Can anyone elaborate on what happened inside the bar earlier in the evening? Obvioulsy, this situation started inside the bar and then carried over outside later in the evening. Sounds premeditated to me. I hope the guy who did this goes to prison for a very long time. Perhaps he and his buddies should of just left when the others in his party were arrested.
March 9, 201016 yr Dickmann's is a good place. It's a little too smoky for me inside, but it's fun. This is definitely a fluke accident. The kid was punched in the side, fell over & hit his head. Apparently he died from head injuries. Just a sad & unfortunate story.
March 9, 201016 yr Punched in the side of his torso or his head? Also, was he ambushed from people waiting on him to leave the bar? Like I said, sounds premeditated to me if they were waiting for him outside.

Like I said, sounds premeditated to me if they were waiting for him outside. From the police report it says "he was punched in the side, fell to the ground and hit his head", so it looks like side of the torso. And "McGrath was with a group of acquaintances who had a heated exchange inside the bar with another group. When the groups left, the argument became physical in the parking lot." As Skilld-Kid stated above, it's not like the guy is a hardened killer, it looks like just a freak accident with no intent to murder, the guy when caught will end up getting manslaughter not murder.
March 9, 201016 yr Looks like they got their guy. Mathhew Kaylor, 24 of Covington was arrested and charged with 2nd degree manslaughter. Will be curious to see if this is his first offense.

March 9, 201016 yr Wonder what he will face 5-15 with a fine... If he only gets 5 I hope they're the hardest 5 anyones ever done esepcially since he could be parolled after 2-3 years. While the victim won't get a second chance at like. Its bull crap.
March 9, 201016 yr http://www.jailtracker.com/kncdc/kenton_inmatelist.html Here is a fun website if you want to see what this clown looks like. Type in his name (check the box for past inmates for his prior). Hope you don't find your own name in here!!!!
