Simple question. Why do so many people hate them?

I don't hate them, I just don't enjoy their music.

 

They are a bit pretentious, however.

I like Coldplay.

 

The 40-Year-Old Virgin played a big role in making people somewhat embarrassed to listen to Coldplay.

I have no idea why people hate them. I would assume because so many people DO like them. Some people simply can't bring themselves to like anything that the masses like...it must be crap if a lot of people like it or something. :lol:

 

And I don't find them pretentious. I've seen several interviews with them, and frankly, they seem pretty normal, even astounded by the fuss about them.

I think their music is just plain terrible. It is just a matter of opinion though and I don't try to tell anyone what music they should or should not listen to. If you like it, good for you. But I'd rather listen to someone scratching their nails on a chalk board. :lol:

You know how you feel about Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and REO? Kind of how many of us feel about Coldplay. I can't, for the life of me, understand what you or anyone can like about them. Their music is enough to make you want to

I love Coldplay, no matter what The 40 Year Old Virgin says. I saw them in concert at Freedom Hall a couple years ago and it was a great show. I've never understood why people fuss at others about what music they like. It's all about taste and likes - and what does it hurt person B if person A likes a certain type of music? Unless person A is driving!:lol:

My son was at that concert. He said they were incredible live. He loved the big yellow balls bouncing through the crowd.

I loved it. My wife and I debated going to see them in St. Louis this past summer, but we were late on tickets and the prices had gotten a little high for not-great seats. But we definitely want to go back.

Though I am sure to be shunned by Jim and RTS, I declare that I love Coldplay's music. They are actually one of my favorite "new" bands of the last decade. From the moment I first heard "Yellow" 9 or 10 years ago, I've been a big fan. How could anyone listen to tracks like "The Scientist" or "Fix You" and NOT like them?

Simple question. Why do so many people hate them?

 

Because the media love them so.
