The Bengals at it again.....

Featured Replies

I don't think it would be that bad of a signing as long as they are not content with just doing that. They can sign him, but they still better at least try to go out and get a top receiver. Having Stallworth with his speed wouldn't be bad at all as long as its just as the third or fourth receiver.

The thing is though knowing the Bengals, they would just be content with things if they sign him. So if signing him means they will then be content with how the receiver position is. Then I definitely don't want them to get him.

But we know what it means.

The Bengals are to cheap to go get Marshall. Stallworth will be the big catch this year for them and it's pathetic. Like I said, the NFL should take the team and sell them to someone that wants to win. Maybe Mark Cuban could buy them? He would atleast spend the money.

I just don't see where his production level is worth the public relations hit they'll take for it. It isn't like this is a young receiver that was just coming into his own when he made the mistake. He's been in the league 7 years (8 counting the suspension), he's never topped 1000 yards, 70 catches or 8 touchdowns. Heck, he was part of that unreal season that Tom Brady had in 2007 and only managed 697 yards and 3 touchdowns. There has to be at least 10 free agent receivers that can produce what you can expect from him at this point. It is moves like this that cause Bengals fans to want to change teams like in the other thread.

He has been in the league for awhile, however he still is only 28. So he is not to old at all. He would make a good 3rd or 4th receiver for the right price. However he definitely is not the answer the Bengals need at receiver.

In his 7 year career, Stallworth has averaged an underwhelming 42 catches for 626 yards per season. I don't think he will help "a ton." He'll be 30 next year, hasn't played in over a year, and outside of one solid year (2005) has been as common a WR as they come. The Bengals can do better elsewhere.

Stallworth was a fantasy bust for me for like 6 years in a row it seemed.

He's already 29 and will turn 30 during the season next year. There are several other receivers with similar skill sets that won't be overly expensive and aren't the public relations nightmare that Stallworth is. Why put up with the feedback for a 3rd or 4th wideout with limited skills? The minuses outweight the pluses on this one--he simply isn't worth it. Like I said this is why Bengals fans get down on the team so easily. If he isn't the answer at wide receiver why sign him? Its just going to lead to protests and negative publicity for about 40 catches and 500 yards.

I thought I heard he was only 28, I guess I was wrong on that one. Also who said he will still be expensive to get. Honestly probably be able to get him at a bargain price now considering what happened.

Were you someone who didn't think the Bengals should have brought back the late Chris Henry? I mean that brought back bad feedback to the team for a receiver who they only were going to use as a 3rd or 4th receiver. Yet that ended up being a good signing for the Bengals, because when he was playing the offense was definitely better. I'm just saying if you can get him at a pretty good price, that would not be bad at all for a third or 4th receiver like him. He is a very fast receiver and would help some with the down field passing game. Now I have already said though, if they get him. The Bengals better not be content though with what they have at receiver, because he is not going to solve much. He just wouldn't be bad to have for a 3rd or 4th receiver.

I have kept up with Stallworth because he used to play for the Eagles. While his production looks pedestrian, it is mainly because he could never stay healthy. The guy is only good for about 10-11 games a season. Do not kid yourself though, when he is healthy and playing, he is well above an average receiver in the NFL.

 Sounds like bad drafting.

Over hyped player.. someone compared him to Coles but he wasn't even as good as Coles in his prime. Track star, but mediocre NFL receiver.

So why'd you keep drafting him? :idunno:

It was a joke.... I had him for one or two years early on. Guys like him, Lelie.. big time athletes but no better than Caldwell.

 I know, so was mine.

FWIW, I'd be pretty surprised if the Bengals signed him.

I had Santana Moss for 2 or 3 years and he was a major disappointment too.

I'd honestly rather have the TO show come to Cincy.. at least he will draw attn from the defense.

I had him and the only good thing I remember is he won a game for me on Monday night by catching two late TD's against Dallas.
