Trinity beat Seneca on Tuesday.

 

Yes they did, but the game was at Trinity and I believe Trinity was down going into the 4th quarter. At one point in the game Trinity was down double figures. Trinity is the better team, but they better bring it from the beginning because Seneca can beat them.

 

Tuesday's game means nothing when it comes the district game at the end of the month.

T is 2-0 against Seneca this year. This will be a very tough game for the Shamrocks.

Why is Scott County ahead of Ballard?

I agree with some other people, Shelby Valley should be much higher. They returned a lot of key guys from a very successful team last year which had some huge wins and quality losses including games vs J-town, Elliott (twice) and Mason.

And this year they have none to speak of. I totally disagree with your assertion that they should be higher. Took a lump from Christian Co. at home didn't exactly help your argument.

No doubt they have a nice team this year, but not a signature win. A win at home over Christian County after what had to be close to an 86-hour CC bus ride would have sealed the deal.

Shelby Valley is a lock to get back to the Sweet 16 and they got a great draw. They have a great chance of getting to the finals.

The Massey ratings have Shelby Valley's schedule as being 48th in the state. Shelby Valley's best win according to those ratings is Clay County (at home) followed by Knott County Central (their best road win). Christian County was the only opponent they've played that's been in the BGP Top 20, and quite frankly, there's not much more that Shelby Valley could've had going for them to pick up that win. Christian County was playing their fifth game in 8 days (all on the road), and while Shelby Valley had played four in the same span, all the others were against the also-ran 15th Region. Christian County's included games against Holmes and at Bowling Green, as well as district rival Hopkinsville. There's the travel factor of course where Christian County went cross state to play Shelby Valley, and still they didn't win.

 

I don't know if I'm saying they can't or shouldn't be higher, but unfortunately their schedule really only gave them a single shot to prove what they could do and they didn't.

Very true. That won't get them ranked higher, but I'm sure they'd much rather have the easy region and great draw.

Holmes will play a tougher schedule because the 9th is one of the better regions in the state. But I think both of these are top 10 teams.

It sure helps prepare you come post season time though. The more your weaknesses are exposed, the better you get and harder you work. :thumb:

Playing a hard schedule can also have negative effect, if you play oh so close, but you just can't beat the big boys. I've seen playing tough schedules do go both ways sometimes.:thumb:

I have to agree. Playing a tough schedule could hurt in many ways. For one, it's all about winning state, not preparing the kids for college by playing against better talent. I know only one team per region goes to state, one team per entire state wins it, but still would rather play a mediocre schedule and win games rather than play tougher teams and develop and showcase players for a chance at free education while playing the college level. Your point far outweighs the tough schedule argument.
