May 22, 201016 yr On Jacob and Esau from Genesis 25. Jacob and Esau 19 This is the account of Abraham's son Isaac. Abraham became the father of Isaac, 20 and Isaac was forty years old when he married Rebekah daughter of Bethuel the Aramean from Paddan Aram [d] and sister of Laban the Aramean. 21 Isaac prayed to the LORD on behalf of his wife, because she was barren. The LORD answered his prayer, and his wife Rebekah became pregnant. 22 The babies jostled each other within her, and she said, "Why is this happening to me?" So she went to inquire of the LORD. 23 The LORD said to her, "Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples from within you will be separated; one people will be stronger than the other, and the older will serve the younger." 24 When the time came for her to give birth, there were twin boys in her womb. 25 The first to come out was red, and his whole body was like a hairy garment; so they named him Esau. [e] 26 After this, his brother came out, with his hand grasping Esau's heel; so he was named Jacob. [f] Isaac was sixty years old when Rebekah gave birth to them. 27 The boys grew up, and Esau became a skillful hunter, a man of the open country, while Jacob was a quiet man, staying among the tents. 28 Isaac, who had a taste for wild game, loved Esau, but Rebekah loved Jacob. 29 Once when Jacob was cooking some stew, Esau came in from the open country, famished. 30 He said to Jacob, "Quick, let me have some of that red stew! I'm famished!" (That is why he was also called Edom. [g] ) 31 Jacob replied, "First sell me your birthright." 32 "Look, I am about to die," Esau said. "What good is the birthright to me?" 33 But Jacob said, "Swear to me first." So he swore an oath to him, selling his birthright to Jacob. 34 Then Jacob gave Esau some bread and some lentil stew. He ate and drank, and then got up and left. So Esau despised his birthright.
May 23, 201016 yr A few months ago I went and looked up the story of Jacob and Esau because I thought that there might be some sort of biblical reference in the show. After reading the stories, I was a little undecided, but still a possibility... What do ya'll think?

May 24, 201016 yr Seriously guys, I don't know what the heck I just watched. Was everyone dead the whole time or just dead by the time they got to the Flash Sideways?
May 24, 201016 yr Seriously guys, I don't know what the heck I just watched. I am in the same boat as you, my girlfriend is trying to explain it to me but I dont believe her. What she thinks is that they all actually died in the plane crash and Richard Alpert was right, they were in Hell. Anyone agree with that? I want my alternate endings:taz:

The moment that Christian showed up that's what I thought.
May 24, 201016 yr Seriously, if anyone finds out what happened, please let me know. It was way above my head.

The moment that Christian showed up that's what I thought. The "Flash Sideways" wasn't that at all. It was more of a flash WAY forwards. A flash to a time when they all were dead and hadn't accepted it to move on yet. Christian said that time had no meaning there. As such the order and time at which everyone died wasn't relevant. They weren't always dead. Everything that happened on the Island happened. The bomb didn't reset or change anything. It was what always happened in the timeline. It WAS the incident that was mentioned in the Swan's orientation video. That is why it was covered in concrete like a reactor that had gone through meltdown(as described by Sayiid in Season 2). The flashes in this season were flashes to I guess you could call it purgatory. A holding place until their souls were ready to move on. In the case of most of these people they had to realize it and let go before they could move on. That is what Desmond was trying to do and why he said that Ana Lucia was "not ready." There are some questions I still have, but the big stuff is not among them.
