January 25, 201016 yr I agree completely with you on the bolded part though I've already had to argue it with a few others on here. That's the way I feel about it as well. As for the clock issues at the end, Brad Childress is just pathetic IMO. Obviously he's a good coach (he's in the NFL) but I just don't see how you make those decisions. Favre was hot and NO had no TO's. 1 more first down and they could have had a pretty easy FG attempt with no time on the clock. Instead two runs and a penalty. Then Favre had to pass, which is the worst time to have Favre on your team IMO. He's going to force it in there. Sometimes it works, often times it does not. It looked like a first down to me. It did to me as well. I think he got the first down but the replays they showed were at a slight angle which made it hard to actually determine whether or not he got the 1st down. I think he did though.
January 25, 201016 yr I don't think he got it. He might have at first but then he lost the ball for a second and by the time he got it back he was stopped short.
January 25, 201016 yr NFL Overtime is a sad excuse for overtime. All the emphasis goes into the coin toss. I don't think the Vikings deserved to win with the way they played, but that pass interference call in OT was trash IMO.

January 25, 201016 yr Favre carried them this season. He made the throw that he hasn't made all year. Tough way to end an amazing run! A few things I hate ended that game. OT rules are terrible! Pass interfernece call was garbage. Kicker hits the only FG of the game. Basically the Vikes don't touch the ball..the officials put them in FG range and the game is decided by a kick. I wish there was new overtime and no kickers. Not going to happen but I wish! Favre is the toughest son of a gun to ever play football and last night was a prime example!
January 25, 201016 yr Vikings out played the Saints, but that does not matter if you turn the ball over. Everyone will remember Favre's interception at the end. However that is just one of the reasons why they lost the game. If they didn't have all those fumbles, then they wouldn't have even been in that position. Very exciting game though, I know I was nervous just watching this game. That's the number one reason why I think Adrian Peterson is overrated. Great RB's can't cough it up with that kind of frequency, IMO. Its a testament to his physical abilities that he still plays and gets the carries he does in spite of that flaw in his game. There are very few RB's in the league who would be allowed to carry the ball that much if they did what he does. People tended to overlook it up to this point, but now that it has cost his team dearly, I doubt they'll be as forgiving going forward. Its hard to believe that a guy who finished with 122 yards and 3 TD's was one of the primary reasons his team lost. Including this postseason, Peterson has fumbled the ball 21 times and lost 12 in three seasons.

I put the Vikings loss squarely on Childress' shoulders for how he handled that last minute of play. After what we saw kickers doing in the post season this year, I am dumbfounded that a coach gets close enough for a 50 yard field goal try and then thinks that is good enough. I wouldn't feel comfortable unless it was a 30 yarder or less. The Favre interception was a direct result of the 2 runs and penalty. I am amazed that there isn't more heat on Childress. Everyone is on Favre and Childress is getting no heat at all. This reminds me of the Bartman play in the Cubs post season. Bartman takes all the heat for trying to catch a foul ball and Alex Gonzalez lets a ball go right between his legs and no one says a word about that. Childress blew the game for the Vikings big time.
