No question about his ability and accomplishments. Question alot of his methods over the years.

 

IMVHO some things Red did were inexcusable and left a tarnish.

That is what left a tarnish for me. Cheating and lying have no place.

No surprise to me! Certainly a great coach over the years! Off the field he is a funny guy! But, has not been able to beat T and X with his strange and predictable pressing defense the past 8 years. Also, he has lost some stud players to Scroggins at Central. Plus, in a classless gesture, he even lost the phantom public school championship to Simon Kenton this year. Who payed for that trophy? Moving on to Jeff will allow him to win something else in the future.

You seem to have a heck of an agenda lately. It's well know, documented, etc....Redman was highly successful. Some of it came in questionable manners. And he always chose a way to jab at Trinity and X, even in his successes against us. Great leader of young men? Sure. I still say good riddance. He has thrown in the towel, when he knew his "system" was no longer going to be allowed to work.

I'm not sure if anyone is aware of the success that does not exist against T and X from Kentucky public schools. As stated in the CJ article, combined they have lost only 53 games to public schools over the past 30 years and Redman won 19 of those 53 games. I would bet that there has not been another coach win more than 3 of those games (that would be a great job for our moderator "Scribe" to look up, he probably knows the answer to that one). Since 1998, the past 12 years T and X have lost only 18 games to Kentucky Public schools and 9 of those losses were to Redman. Crazy defense or whatever, he is the only one to compete against them. Nobody has beaten either team in the last 4 years from Kentucky Public Schools. THAT IS WHY HE LEFT, THE REST OF US ACCEPT IT, HE CAN NOT ACCEPT NOT COMPETING AGAINST THEM FOR STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS. T or X has won every State Championship except 4 according to the CJ article since 1992, Redman has 3 of those 4 at Male. It's amazing what he has accomplished against those two Private Powerhouses.

Previous post outlines Coach Redman's success against T & X. Recently Coach Redman has had trouble with Ballard High School since the arrival of Mike Jackson. Male is 1-2 against Coach Jackson. Maybe Jackson should be given some consideration for the Bulldog job?

For someone with 36,000+ posts to tell me that I have an agenda is the definition of irony...No, I am simply musing the fact that KY has just lost one of its most successful coaches, and the majority of posts on the subject are negative...and moreover, most of these posts are coming from Trinity posters, a school that has hardly been regarded (right or wrong) by the masses as an ethical compass. I believe, other than the fumbleroski, Male has had as many sanctions leveled against them as T or X in the past decade.

While I was never a fan of Redman I do recognize his accomplishments. They are quite impressive. I remember the blizzard game in 2000 in Coach Beatty's first season. Male was up on us 30 plus points at halftime and could probably have named the score. He called off the dogs very early and we scored a couple of meaningless touchdowns. The final score looked much, much closer than reality. For that one move alone, he earned my respect. I wish him well.

I have not kept up with the discussion about Redman; but with the story in the paper, I have not seen a couple of things. First, would he now be eligible for retirement and a pension from JCPS? But probably more importantly, Male is busting out at the seams in student enrollment. I have heard it is harder to get student/athletes into Male as it use to be. One post talked about “losing athletes to Central.” It might be as much or more as the difficulty of getting into Male.

Jeffersonville to name Redman as Coach

 

Redman, who stepped down Thursday after 18 seasons as the Male High School coach, has been selected for the same position at Jeffersonville (Ind.).

The Greater Clark County Schools said in a press release that superintendent Stephen Daeschner will include the hiring of Redman on Tuesday’s Board of School Trustees’ meeting.

The board will then vote on Daeschner’s recommendation, and Redman is scheduled to be introduced as the school’s 21st head coach at 10 a.m. Wednesday
