January 8, 201016 yr Huge news. Who do they get to replace him? Think Strong may pounce on a few of their prospects? He has one of their commits Todd Chandler coming for a visit this week. Chander is another Miami Northwestern guy so it's possible.
January 8, 201016 yr USF should go get Kirby Smart (DC @ Bama) IMO. He's interviewing for Texas Tech but he may not be their top candidate. Smart would do wonders at USF IMO.
January 8, 201016 yr Author USF should go get Kirby Smart (DC @ Bama) IMO. He's interviewing for USF but he may not be their top candidate. Smart would do wonders at USF IMO. I'm pretty sure that is a typo. Where is he interviewing?

January 8, 201016 yr It looks like a perfect stepping stone job. Amazing recruiting grounds in a conference that isn't very tough to win in.
January 8, 201016 yr Running backs coach and recruiting coordinator, Carl Franks, has been named the interim head coach and the remainder of the staff is in tact. No mass firing. As an alum and a season ticket holder I want to read the review. I certainly hope they have named witnesses to the event, and it's not based on hearsay. Regardless of the findings in the report, I'm disappointed. I have met Jim Leavitt and have talked to him on several occasions, but I do not know him. He's a fired up guy, though. Especially about this program. He is still vehemently denying any wrong doing. I do know the players are upset. I wouldn't want to be Joel Miller about now. Unless the school reacts quickly and hires a "named" coach, not only will we lose recruits, indications are that many players may transfer out because of the firing. This could decimate the program. News Conference
January 8, 201016 yr I know its a longggggg shot. But Gruden seemed to love the program and lives in the area I believe.
January 8, 201016 yr I think the top two candidates for this job should be Kirby Smart-DC at Alabama, and Tommy Tuberville-who seems desperate to find a job at this point, it seems like he would take Kentucky Christian's head coaching position if offered. Smart is a great defensive mind, who replaced something like 7 starters and they still had the best defense in the country, I imagine it's only a matter of time before he and Alabama's OC Jim McElwain get an opportunity to be a head coach. Tuberville would also be an excellent choice for this job, his resume needs no further expansion by me, either way these two have to be the top 2 choices IMO.
January 8, 201016 yr USF Safety Jerrell Young "Woolard told us not to talk publicly … but I won't and I can't let my coach be scrutinized over something he didn't do," Young said. "It wouldn't be right. I take it upon me to say something because it's not true." "I've talked to a bunch of players, and if Coach Leavitt leaves, there's a (good) chance I'm leaving, and there's a lot of players, as a matter of fact a lot of stars on the team saying they'd leave, too," the former Gibbs High standout said. "There's a lot of recruits, like my little brother, (Bradenton quarterback) Brion Carnes. I would not let him come here if another coach came in here. I came here for him, and a lot of other players too." Young disputes version of event
January 8, 201016 yr I hate to hear this due to having a friend on the coaching staff there. I'm not sure how good of athletes his two boys are, but maybe he can find a job in the area and bring them back home to Corbin.
January 8, 201016 yr Coaching football at any level maybe the worst profession there is anymore...if you look from high school to college to pro's and see the ridicule coaches go through, it's ridiculous...
