January 8, 201016 yr What other schools were in one? GCHS is right. But last year Cincy lost to Va Tech in the Orange Bowl the year before that WV beat OK in the Fiesta Bowl, the year before that UL beat WF in the Orange Bowl and the year before that WV beat UGA in the Sugar bowl.

Okay, the BCS was guaranteed Alabama/Texas, the Rose was guaranteed Ohio State/Orange and the Orange was guaranteed Georgia Tech. You can only choose from the Top 14 in the BCS and only two teams per conference can be selected. That means the following were left, with schools that must be selected with an asterisk: 3 - Cincinnati* 4 - TCU* 5 - Florida 6 - Boise State 10 - Iowa 11 - Virginia Tech 12 - LSU 13 - Penn State 14 - BYU The selection order for bowls went as follows: 1) Sugar, 2) Fiesta, 3) Orange, 4) Fiesta, and 5) Sugar. 1) The Sugar chose Florida, which was fine. That also eliminated LSU. 2) The Fiesta had the next pick. They chose TCU over Iowa, Virginia Tech, and Penn State, three schools ranked 10 or higher. They also chose TCU over Cincinnati, based upon travel and ticket sales, and perhaps because TCU was the better team. 3) The Orange picked next and took Iowa, eliminating Penn State in the process. 4) The Fiesta had the next choice and could pick one of the four: 3) Cincinnati, 6) Boise State, 11) Virginia Tech, 13) BYU. So to answer finally: yes, the Fiesta Bowl took the two best teams available to them.
