January 8, 201016 yr If you are happy with always being 1 spot above Vandy then change the name of the University. If I am right he took over a team that went 7-5 under Morris and had 4 losing seasons. He did a good job. But only good enough to for a street name. As for having 14 wins taken away, he hardly has 14 career wins to take away. One reason for that, might be due to the fact that he hasn't coached for 87 years like another old man I know, that finally got thrown out of town.

And the fact that both schools he took over were in bad shape. UK was on probation and had lost scholarships & Oregon was just terrible. He was willing to take on 2 jobs that weren't exactly easy sells.
January 8, 201016 yr Jerry Claiborne did more for the program than Rich Brooks under tougher circumstances left by Fran Curci. I'd name something after him before I did Brooks I can't say Jerry Claiborne did more for the program than Rich Brooks. I think their careers at UK were very similar.

January 8, 201016 yr However... just one Joker away from finishing second! Good one and now he is in charge. Close counts in horse shoes.

He has coached a long time but has been fired everywhere he has been. Not sure why all the anger. I just said he didn't deserve a field or stadium after him unless you like average football. As for your shots at Bowden he would coach circles around any of the coaches ever been hired at UK. Including Rich Brooks. (I know UK beat them 2 years ago) BTW I think Rich has done his best while at UK and should be recongnized for what he has done.

January 8, 201016 yr :thumb: I hope it was an overcite by CB. I think it was. You could maybe argue that Bowden is a better coach, but I don't think I'll ever be convinced that he was world's better than Bear Bryant. But, IMO Bear was the best there ever was. :thumb:

Well, I would say that Rich was a better coach the past 4 years, but considering that Bowden was just a figure head, that wouldn't be an accurate statement. Again, Rich, by most standards, hasn't done a phenomenal job, but for UK football standards, he has. I liken it to legendary Indian coach Lou Brown after going 60-61, he said it was hardly a good season. The GM replied with, "for this team....it is."
January 9, 201016 yr It goes without saying that if Mitch Barnhart finally does approve the recruiting center that Rich was promised for several years now to have built, it will certainly be named the Rich Brooks Recruiting Center.
