January 6, 201016 yr I have thought about this the past few years, and now truly believe that the playing field at Commonwealth Stadium should have it's name changed from "CM Newton Field" to 'Rich Brooks Field'. I know Oregon already did this years ago, but what rule is there you can't have 2 fields named after you? My reasoning is simple, ... 1. CM Newton was the AD, but a basketball guy 2. CM hired Mumme (that landed UK in a world of trouble) 3. Brooks has done things that hadn't been done in 20-30-40 years, or in some cases ever 4. Brooks did it with class and a firm hand of discipline, no matter who the player happened to be 5. Brooks took the abuse while trying to build UK football from the ashes and stood tall in the saddle the entire time I believe I will write a letter to Mitch Barnhart asking he and Lee Todd to seriously consider renaming the field 'Rich Brooks Field'. Old Blue deserves it IMHO.

January 6, 201016 yr Author It would be the second one. Oregon has Rich Brooks field as well. Yep. I had that in my opening comments. I didn't see a problem with a coach having 2 fields named after them.

January 6, 201016 yr "Brooks-Newton Field" maybe? I like this idea. I don't like the idea of taking the name away from the field. It makes it look like we are backtracking or covering our rears.
January 6, 201016 yr I always thought you name it after someone who has done great things. (national tittles, all time wins, etc.) and not someone who only had 4 winning seasons. I think Rich did a good job but not the type of job that you name something after him. Name an award or scholarship after him.
January 6, 201016 yr Only after they name Rupp Arena's floor Newton-Pitino Court. At least Pitino won something important.

January 6, 201016 yr Why not name the practice facility after him. Or better yet, just rename LP Field in Nashville after him given how many games he has coached there
