Highlands/Covington Catholic Prediction

Highlands vs CovCath

Tuesday Jan 5th @ CovCath

Triple Header starting @ 4:15pm

One of the biggest rivalry games in the Commonwealth, as the Bluebirds cross the Licking to go head to head with the Colonels in Park Hills.

This is one of those HS games that makes the UK vs. UL games look like a love in and with the game being played at CovCath this year, the Crazies will be out in force!

IMO the biggest questions to discuss are:

Will both teams be completely healthy for this game?

Will HHS be able to keep Thelen for getting his average?

Will HHS be to strong for the Colonels to stay with?

What about the future? Which school Frosh or JV team will come out on top and why?

What will the themes of the two schools' student bodies be?

It's always an outstanding game no matter the records, so if you plan on attending, get there early.

Good luck to both teams. I'm pulling for the Birds in this one though.

I predict you better get there early to get a decent seat.

If the Colonels a) don't get sloppy with the ball, as they have shown can do; and b) don't try to play a half court game, they'll open an eight point lead by half and keep it.

Highlands will beat on Thelen as hard as they can, but I think Wellbrock will step up.

CovCath's biggest danger is to try and play a half court game. It goes completely against their strengths.

Is this a frosh/jv/varsity tripleheader?

Yes sir. 4:15/6:00/7:30

If Grubbs plays in this one, which I assume he will, I think Thelen struggles to get his which will force the other Colonels to really step up.

I think Highlands has too much quality depth for CCH to contend with this year.

Highlands- 62

Covcath- 50

The Frosh game will be good and probably go down to the wire. If the Birds play with intensity their overall length will helo them win. I think the JV game goes to the Birds. The Varsity game will be very physical and expect it to be low scoring. A good chance the Birds get the sweep!

I would love to see the Colonels knock off the Birds, but I do not see that happening. It will, however, be fun to watch the Grubbs vs. Thelan matchup. Watching the student sections at any Cov. Cath. vs. Highlands event is worth the price of admission. Which is a better value? Cov. Cath. vs. Highlands for $6.00 on Tuesday or the Bengals vs. the J.E.T.S. Jets Jets Jets in the freezing cold on Saturday for $121.00?

Always exciting for the frosh & the JV teams. The crowd will start to trickle in by the end of the freshman game and, by halftime of the JV game, the house should be packed.

I had to sneak in the side door with the help of a few of my friends a few years back for this matchup. I remember the Boone / CCH matchup in '04 (when Kevin & Mike Listerman matched up for the first time ever) and the game may have been sold out by halftime of the JV game. It makes for a great atmosphere and is really cool for the frosh / JV kids who are typically playing in front of that type of crowd for the 1st time.

I predict the entertainment will cost me about $1 per hour and that makes me the winner on the night!

Does anyone know if this game is still on as scheduled?
