Holmes Bulldogs

Holmes wouldn't have won the region last year had Austin Flannery played for Boone County. I think the 9th region is still up for grabs.

It certainly would have given them that 3pt threat they lacked. Hard to say if they would have beaten the Dogs though.

Is he #45?

#45 is a 6'7 sophomore...David Stephenson.

Dontel Rice is a 6'4 sophomore...#21.

He didn't start dressing varsity until the Pendleton Co game. Got in tonight's game and had 4 points in the last 2 minutes of play against Bryan Station.

Dontel reminds me a lot of Greg Rice as a sophomore, only without the attitude, a lot stronger, and a better work ethic.

Gotcha. #45 is a little raw.

To say the least.....

If Henley and Wimzie can develop him over the next two years, he could be a force in the paint though. He has the size and strength but lacks athleticism.

Watch out for #15, Jaleel Gray as well. He is very talented and athletic. I'm not really sure why he isn't seeing much time this year. He was one of Holmes' leading scorers last year at the JV level as as sophomore.

Give this team some time...

We are still in December and Holmes has played a pretty solid schedule. They are still a work in progress. They lost three key contributors from last year's team and are trying to build some depth off the bench.

If you are going to play for David Henley, you are going to have to play hard all the time and defend.

On offense, things run much smoother when players are looking out for each other and moving the ball around and taking good shots. A few players are working into different roles and things will start clicking.

It is really tough to question Coach Henley and staff particularly when they are sporting some hardware on their ring finger.

Yes and if Derrick Anderson could have played and Kenyon Martin hadn't broken his leg and a frog had wings, etc, etc, etc.

I like some of what Henley brings. He does bring more discipline than predecessors and his substitution patterns are well designed to provide rest so that he has his best players on the floor at crunch time. Having said that, he does seem to know only one style of play. I do not think Holmes is one bit selfish. In fact they tend to overpass and then settle for the same shot that they could have gotten earlier. They also tend to make inside passes to players who are well guarded with poor results. They really do miss Riley.

When you have the most athletic team imho you utilize it to the fullest by running. Letting the other team hang around will sooner or later get you a loss, particularly when you are not famous for your foul shooting. In the second half of the first Newport game, the Bulldogs ran and they ran away with the game.

It is only December, lets back track a little.

2006/2007 9th region champs state semi-finals, lost to state champs.

2007/2008 9th region champs state finals

2008/2009 9th region champs state champs

I think Dave Henley knows what he is doing, enough said. See you at Rupp in March, I already made three nights of hotel reservations. Go Dawgs.

Austin Flannery must not have believed that or else he would still be at Boone County.
