I believe the NBA is fixed

Featured Replies

Mostly because of the game between the Lakers and Bucks last night. I don't care about what the ex-ref said and any of that but seeing that game and how the officials protect Kobe just goes to show that the NBA is a fixed game. They look out for the stars and technically that is fixing a game because it is no longer a neutral referee if they are making biased calls based on who the player is.

Lakers second to last possession Kobe drove through the lane and he first took about 10 steps then he charged, all before he was given the foul and the basket. Had he not been given the call the game would have basically been over. Granite the Bucks had another chance to stop him but the point is still there.

Any time a ref starts making calls or the lack of making a call simply because of who the player is then the game is not neutral.

I have thought this for a long time. I really think alot of what Tim Donaghy says is the truth.

I don't watch much NBA basketball nowdays, but when I did I felt the whistle was mysteriously bias.

It makes you wonder.

Announcers make reference to this stuff all the time but never relate it to actually a fixing of the game.

I mean announcers say stuff like "Kobe has to get that call" or "A rookie won't get the same call that Kobe got"

You know what a foul is a foul and a walk is a walk. By the NBA rulesbook it does not state that you only call a travel against players not named Kobe, LeBron, Wade, Melo, etc. I mean what the NBA has told the refs to not call is ridiculous. It is fixing the game because it allows the stars to make plays that other players are penalized for trying to make.

Refs giver preferential treatment to superstars? That started about 95 years ago.

This isn't exactly anything new.:thumb: Its the nature of sports period. Is the NFL fixed too?

Sure, and I would imagine that MLB is the same way. Officials, anymore, dictate the rules of the game solely based on the stars. It's not right by any means but the NBA does nothing to change it. At least in baseball they have that computerized strike zone and the umpires are graded on everything. I would imagine that the NBA and NFL does this as well but I haven't ever heard anyone mention it though.

I just believe the NBA sticks out a little more than the other 2 when it comes to non-calls or calls for the stars of the game.

^So.... all sports are fixed?

I don't know about all sports but I do think that the NBA, NFL, MLB are fixed to an extent and in that order as well when it comes to the most obvious.

Like I said earlier I just believe the NBA is the most obvious about it.

The mafia is in deep with all major sports and if you dont believe that you are very naive.

Watch a college hoops game and then watch an NBA game. You do not see the same effort in both. There is a reason behind that. All NBA games are generally close until the 4th period and then the game takes meaning and its all dependant on where the money lies.

If I were a betting man I would stay the heck away from the NBA.

I don't understand.

What about College Basketball and Football? Superstars get plenty of calls in those too.

I think it's more about the "school" in college. Yes some athletes get calls but from what I watch it's more wide spread throughout the professional ranks..

PS: i have to leave for work so I'll be back to this topic later tonight to discuss my belief further.

Did you watch a Tyler Hansbrough game last year?

I think that the existence of referees is causing some of us to confuse the meaning of "fixed" versus "human." Human beings are inherently biased- each one of us in this thread has our own point of view that we are trying to promote. However, that doesn't mean that this conversation has been "fixed" by some conspiracy from theguru and the moderators.

If you want to argue that the refs are overly biased towards superstars, that's another conversation. But I don't see any evidence that the NBA is fixed.
