December 18, 200916 yr I've seen that thread already, but thanks anyways. I'm still a believer that the NBA is (or it at least used to be) a little dirty. And by a little, I mean a little more than other pro sports. And does the NFL have "make up calls" ? I will admit that the NFL officiating this year has been nothing short of terrible IMO. And Goodell is doing his best to screw up the best league in professional sports. Every sport has make up calls. You don't think a ref who made a 50/50 call one way for one team won't make it the other way the next time? If you've seen the thread then you realize that most of what he has claimed is untrue. Why still use him in your argument?

December 18, 200916 yr To me fixed is a very strong statement and it means that gambling is affected. Stars and big time teams get calls, that is every sport. Like said earlier Lakers were favored like 6 points, so Kobe's play had nothing to do with the spread.

I believe that someone, as to whom I have no idea, tells the officials to lay off the tick tack calls and to give preference to certain players in the league because it makes the games better, ratings wise. What we have here is a failure to miscommunicate...that is what "fixed" means. It's also what Tim Donaghy apparently claims. He is talking "fixed" in the sense of gambling and in with Vegas and the mafia. I am talking "fixed" in the sense that they influence the outcome of the games in order to boost ratings and make the NBA regular season more appealing to watch. Bigger interest equals more ticket sales, merchandise sales, boost in ratings, etc. It benefits the league if officials do not call fouls and violations on the star players.
