Cincinnati lost. I didn't expect them to win. I wouldn't have been shocked if they won, but I did not expect to walk into Minnesota & get a W.

A win today would have been nice, but a win next week is much more important.

You talk about all those things for why it was expected the Bengals to lose. Well very easily could have turned a lot of things around for why the Bengals should have won. Talk about how the Bengals offense hasn't done well lately. Well the Vikings running game hadn't done well lately. The Vikings passing game was just coming off a bad game. The Vikings were playing without one of their best playmakers in Harvin. The Vikings were playing without basically the captain of their defense in their middle linebacker for the first game of the year. The Bengals also have one of the best running backs in football, and had the second ranked run defense and first ranked in points aloud. So You listed a lot of reasons why the Bengals should lose, well right there is a lot of reasons for why the Bengals could have won going into the game.

The main difference in the game was Vikings being at home. Which is why they were favorite, but its not like it would have been that unexpected if the Bengals won. Carson Plamer is not an elite QB and the offense isn't great. If they go to SD or Indy in the playoffs they will not score enough to win. They have the right recipe for the last 10 years in the playoffs. Is it the right recipe this year is the question?

They were +7 so they lost as expected. No book necessary.

The analyst say "oh the Bengals can learn a lot more from a loss than a win." What did we really learn? All we did was confirm we can't pass. What is the Brat relying on cold weather smash mouth football, works until you get in a dome or on the coast. We have a guy who can rush for 100 yards every week but somehow it isn't opening up the passing game... i'm clueless.

Fact is the Bengals have a poor passing attack. I'm officially concerned, they aren't equipped to play from behind against a quality foe. Now they have to go to the west coast to play the Chargers who just past them for the #2 seed and have won eight games in a row. Anyone hear the status of Crocker?

To all the posters who had no concern about the passing game when we were running over the Browns and Lions, I told you. You cannot beat anyone any good without being able to throw the ball down the field in the NFL. If you are one dimensional, especially with the run, you woon't win big games.

Oh and Marvin is the worst coach in the NFL as far as the clock goes. That display at the end of the half was unreal excpet that it is now expected from this joke of a coach. They don't save 10 seconds after Minn is stopped on 3rd down. Then after picking up 9 yards on 1st down they save 2 TO's for the second half and run a screen w/ 6 seconds left. Really? Someone should be fired for that. It's really dumb.

I agree, their clock management has been absolutely horrible for Marvin's entire tenure. HORRIBLE.

This is true. We have no passing game and we call a timeout with about :35 seconds on the call when the Vikings was going to run it down and then kick. Stupid!!!!!!!:irked::irked::irked:

I agree with Colonel Crazy, and a few others. This is an okay team, or a good team, but not a very good team. You simply cannot win many games without a passing game, the offense is not there most of the time, for many reasons. What was it? the last 6 games they only had 7 offensive TD's? And in two of those games they played Cleveland and Detroit? The signs have been there, the offense is struggling!

 

As others stated, I thought they had a chance today, but I didn't know what to expect, because of not being able to score too much, even against bad teams. Heck, you get the opening kickoff, and you have 3 penalties before your first few snaps?

 

The D is actually pretty good, but how with they do next week out west? That will be an interesting test. But the offense! What is the update on Henry? I have not heard too much about him other than that he may not be back the rest of the year, but they were not sure? Playoffs? Or is he done? How much would TJ have helped? With Chad being doubled up a lot isn't someone open more than a couple yard past the line of scrimmage?

Henry is out for the year. As for TJ, I think we do see now that we definitely do miss him when it comes to the passing game. The only thing with TJ though, would have been a possible problem in the locker room if he was still here. With the way the team is dedicated to the run this year, he would have no have been happy in the locker room with how they don't throw much. It would have been either him or Chad complaining about not getting the ball and probably both. So when it comes to team chemistry the team is better off without him, but when it comes to passing they definitely miss him especially since Henry is out for the year.
