Do you honestly think restructuring funds would benefit rural East Kentucky schools?

 

How many major universities are located south of I-64 and east of I-75?

How many interstates run through the heart of East Kentucky?

 

Mountain folks have been waiting for funds to be restructured since the Eisenhower administration.

 

 

The proposal at hand is about eliminating private schools from post season play. It has nothing to do with open enrollment. So, the core truth is here, that there will be no change for schools ANYWHERE, except in 4A, and mostly in Louisville.

But, you're not above selling the souls of the kids who benefit from open enrollment. This whole issue has nothing at all to do with what's best for the kids....only what the adults want for themselves.

Why does it have to be college? It should be the ENTIRE educational process.

 

This country lags behind other countries in education. Why? Because we are not putting the best interests of the kids first, and we're not putting education first. This is a prime example.

 

If you eliminate open enrollment, you eliminate kids learning in an environment that is conducive to their interests. Why would we want to do that?

 

 

Maybe this country would be better off if education went back to what it was originally, a privilage, not a right.

One major university and a few smaller ones. No interstates, but several state funded parkways. Considering the # of people in those areas, you're not doing too bad!! Unfortunately these type institutions and infrastructure tend to go near the population bases, and there just aren't a lot of people (read votes) in the mountains.

Open enrollment is great, if you live in a highly populated area. It's just the rest of the state can't gain anything from it so if the whole state went to open enrollment, things could get worse for some schools.

Yeah, why not? They use to and nobody complained. Schools were full of pride and the gaps were not as big as they are now in education and sports. The mistake was giving people too much freedom. Hard to take it away now.

That's not how it HAS to work, it's the way the school districts have CHOSEN it to work.

It used to be that way but some people got together and created some advantages.
