St. Henry 59 CovCath 54

Featured Replies

In a close game like this its just hard to see so many CCH players roll in and out of the lineup. No way they were going to wear out St. Henry.

I'll disagree somewhat. Late 2nd qtr early 3rd qtr they forced a lot of turnovers by SHDHS. That has to be attributed somewhat to fatigue. Its tiring just getting the ball up the floor muchless having someone constantly pressuring you.

Cru better than advertised I'd guess!! Hats off to that "over-celebrated" Coach Faust & team for a nice "upset"? After watching St. H vs. BBHS I thought they had a chance vs. CCH, but always tough to win in Park Hills. Should be an interesting season in NKY!!

Im very proud tonight. I can't even think of the last time St. Henry beat CovCath at home. I don't think Coach Faust had ever done that. Im so happy for Coach and this squad. They played like they didn't even know the game was in Park Hills. 4 players with any varisty experience and they played like the CovCath Crazies weren't even there. Amazing it didn't effect them at all.

This CRU is going to have a tough season, but I think they are ready to step up to the challenge. They had ups and downs tonight. Lots of bad decision making. But they didn't give in at all tonight. They weren't the most talented team or the biggest team on the floor tonight. But they had bigger hearts than anyone could imagine. They fought through foul trouble and even one of the best players on the bench the entire 3rd qtr.

From what I've seen in the first 2 games, they are going to try harder and out hustle, out work, and out play you every possesion of the game (on offense and defense).

Its going to be tough for any team (with exception of maybe Holmes) to blow this team out, this is one heck of a group of fighters.

CONGRATULATIONS CRUSADERS, you were the better team tonight!!!

Don't claim to be a BBall expert, but why is CovCath using their guards down on the block on Free Throws, and keeping Wellbrock, Thelen and Connelly out by the 3 point line?

Whatever happened to a high low post offense? Thelen was the only offense the entire 2nd half. Wellbrock who had 16 points and 10 boards against Lexcath spent most of his time on the offensive set outside the 3 point line. CovCath did not utilize their height advantage at all.

A very disappointing effort from the players on the court, and the coach on the sidelines.

Colonel Crazies were the only Covcath contingent on top of their game!

Thelen often came from the top of the lane area down to the block off of a pick as the ball was being passed to the wing. Its what led to many of his points. CCH could get the ball inside when they chose to do so. The boys on the floor have to be aware of the mismatch. I would hope the coach was stressing that.

Missing 18 FTs can't be put on the coach.

As to the question about guards down low on FTs I'd assume its to get into the press. Of course, that would require making FTs which didn't quite work.

You don't deserve to win a game when you shoot 43 percent from the FT line

Cov. Cath. actually picked up their free throw shooting % in the 2nd half. Their 1st half free throw shooting was atrocious.

14 of 32?

Sounds like an early Saturday.

It seems like St. Henry won @ CCH a few years ago. No?

This game just reinforces everything about sports. Regardless of coaching talent, you must have talent in the uniforms.

Missed free throws clearly was the difference in this game from what I am reading. CCH looks like they could be very inconsistent early on in the season. Congrats to the Cru. I am eating crow on this one regarding my prediction. I wouldn't be surprised if Coach L has em up there very early today shooting.

They will be shooting free throws and it won't take long to get back on the horse as they play McNick tonight at 7:00 at TMC as part of the Jim Connor Classic. One thing I like about this day is TMC honors a hall of famer from every school. I believe one of them was Dan Tieman in the past.

As fas as the boys this year, one of the biggest challenges for the coaches is keeping them from the "here we go again" attitude. They need to come out tonight and get that first win and build on it. I heard a good friend of mine say you're either the hammer or the nail. Time to be the hammer.

Good point, its crazy how you can have a bad year and then start off the following with a couple losses and get that kind of an attitude. They need to get that CCH swagger back.

St. Henry in a close one will come down to who make more free throws down the strech

I hate to say I told you so. Great game both teams had alot of fans and a very fun game to watch.

You were correct about the St. Henry win but very, very wrong about the free throws. St. Henry as Clyde said, missed many, many chances to open this game up by missing FT's at the end.

CovCath because of the missed FT's had a lot of chances to win this game at the end and I believe the Cru indeed were tired at the end from the numbers CovCath threw on the floor, but CovCath continually didn't put the ball in their best players hands.

CovCath needs to find who can hit a jump shot to prevent the other teams from just surrounding Thelen and Wellbrock in the post! If someone stands up and can get that job done, then CovCath will be fine! If not? It could be a long season!

Maybe at the end St.Henry was tired but overall they hit their free throws and CCH didn't for the entire game. You have to make your free throws the entire game just not in the second half. CCH will be a good team this year. St. Henry played very good team ball and executed Coach Faust game plan and got a win.

Great call in the prediction thread 9bb. Great job Cru!:thumb:

It may seem like St. Henry missed a lot, but I think they just went 1 for 2 three times in a row. The door was opened a little and the Colonels just did not capitalize. They just shot themsleves in the foot every time they needed to make a basket in the last few minutes. Fouls, missed 3's.
