Collinsworth An Army All American

Congrats AC. Hope to see him in Blue at the next level.

The whole chip on the shoulder things is pretty funny to me. Guys, it's the state championship, I don't think they needed this for motivation.

Congrats to Austin!!

That is awesome! :thumb:

Very much deserved. That a boy Austin way to make the Mr Football voters look like they know what they are talking about. Go Figure. Can anyone tell when the other Mr Football nominees and especially Mr Football are going to get their invitation for the Army Game?[/QUOTE]

Well deserved recognition for AC. He is probably the best football player in Kentucky.

To many people getting upset over Mr. Football. I'm sure it doesn't bother Austin. Mr. Football is about who had a great year. This recognition is more about who are the best foot ball players. Austin is a great football player on a great team who just so happened to have a off year statistically due to injuries. I think some of the awards he is receiving are recognizing just that.

Best of luck to AC. Looking forward to watching him on the next level.

GREAT reward for a young man who has worked extremely hard and deserves this honor. I guess some informed people actually know talent when it is presented to them, unlike some of the less informed voters for the Mr. Kentucky award. Anyways, AC has bigger and better things to look forward to than almost all of the other 18 candidates...State Championships, another ring, Army All American game, etc......Oh, and choosing between UK, UC, Louisville(GOD, please no!), Vandy, Stanford, Harvard. Hope he has a good pair of sunglasses. Oh well, I guess AC will quickly get over being spurned when he has to choose between some of the best academic institutions on earth or playing in the SEC. It's good to be the King.

I get supporting your favorite local boy. It does seem odd that AC didn't make the list. However, I wouldn't get on here and put everyone else down . All of the players nominated had great seasons.

You took the words right out of my mouth, Clyde.

I agree, the whole "his future is better than others" comment is pretty tacky IMO

Whatever. Tacky is leaving a kid off the list for the biggest honor his state has to offer because he missed 4 games in a 45 game career in which he was the best player on the field probably every game he played. Besides, his future is probably going to be playing for a D1 school that is one of the very ACADEMIC institutions to boot....How many on that list of 18 can honestly say that. Not many, if any. The truth hurts, and is never tacky.:idunno:

You just don't get it.

Anyone know how many kids from Kentucky have earned this honor?

Micah Johnson is the only one that comes to mind

Brandon Newman from PRP is now at Notre Dame.

Congratulations Austin

You just don't get it.

NO. I fully get it. And like I said yesterday, the Mr. KY Football award is now cheapened because one of he best, If not THE best was not even nominated. It's far from a slam on the other players. It would probably mean more to the winner if he was on the ballot and they beat him out for the award. I'm not even saying he should have won it, because many other deserving nominees had excellent season, but MR. Football should go to the best Senior Football player. Period. If you folks don't think he is one of the best Senior football players in this great state.....Well, I question your football knowledge. Hurt or not, he still played against a good schedule this year and previous years and PROVED ON THE FIELD that he more than deserves to be, at the very least, on the dang ballot. I truly believe that for all the accolades that so many attribute to his last name, that it actually in fact kept him from getting a nomination. Green is an ugly color in the Bluegrass state, but it reared it's ugly head in this case.

Collinsworth getting voted all-state as a cb his soph year was a joke. That was based on his last name only. How many of the voters even saw him play corner that year? Same for being a wr how many saw him play that are voters?

He is going to the all-american game on his last name because it gives the game a name that they can use in advertising.

Is he a good football player? No.......he is a very good football player!

But these awards and honors are giving out by people who do not even see them play! Or if they do it is because they have requested film and the coach sends them a highlight film. And if anyone has seen recruiting highlight films you can make a player look a lot better than they are. The best trick is to show the same play from multiple angles to take up film time.....see the HHS football recruiting website.

It will be interesting to see if the HHS wr this year will be all-state because they put up the same numbers as Collinsworth did last year.

While this is an awesome accomplishment for Austin, and we wish him the best, you should not use this to negate the accomplishments of the other 18 boys on the list. ALL of them (AC and the others) are excellent athletes and deserve consideration. And, for the record, there are others on the list that have amazing opportunities at the next level as well. Any player who gets to play at the next level while getting their education paid for has done something that many others only wish to have done. Congratulations to ALL the athletes that have been given this opportunity. Oh, yes, I know for a fact that there is another player on the list who has an opportunity to play at Harvard so Austin is not the only one with that feather in his cap.

This is just kind of sad to read. Austin got every accolade he has ever received, for one reason only - he EARNED them!

Congrats Austin, you earned it!!!

No, the tacky part was you blatantly slamming the other players by saying they don't have futures. They're kids, it'll be ok that he won't win this award. I just looked outside, the sun actually came up today even though he was left off the list. If this is the worst that ever happens to AC, then he'll have lived an awesome life. Let it go man and quit insulting other kids..
