November 30, 200916 yr I thought it was interesting Mike and Jim on SOAS were saying they need to pass more as well. They are usually neutral but its obvious. Were not gonna beat Minny, New England or NE this way. But today we won hopefully they are looking into things. Who-Dey So which one? :idunno:
November 30, 200916 yr The Bengals offense concerns me. Since Chris Henry went out, this offense has not been the same and has struggled big time in the red zone. The Bengals could win the super bowl this year, and I still think they would be better off with a new offensive coordinator next year. So here's hoping that some small college or something wants the Brat to be the head coach, that is the only chance we have of getting rid of him. I mean I am happy with the win, because that is what matters. The only problem though with a ball control offense, is that it leaves even less room for mistakes and really can't settle for field goals. If you do that yeah you take a lot of the time off the clock, but if you turn it over or kick a field goal. You end up just keeping the game closer, and then even bad teams have a chance to beat you in the end if you make a mistake just like the Oakland game. So this offense has to figure something out. Palmer hasn't looked that good the last two weeks, and well part of it probably is becuase the offensive line has not passed blocked good.

November 30, 200916 yr A part of me really wonders how good our receivers really are besides Chad. I mean Caldwell has came up with some big catches this year, but it doesn't seem like he gets open consistently and same with Coles. We definitely have to sign Chris Henry back next year.

Palmer didn't help out much yesterday. He missed a lot of throws that he usually makes.

Chad is what 9 years in and is still a great receiver but I think Henry was the vertical threat. He is still one of the best route runners in the league.

They usually do try a couple deep balls to Chad each week. Yesterday, Palmer didn't have time to throw it deep, the pass blocking was really bad. And, they really didn't need to throw it deep. Chad is still one of the top 10 wr's in football. He is still one of the toughest covers in league. Cincy is not an "air it out" team anymore. It's smashmouth and defense.
November 30, 200916 yr Palmer didn't help out much yesterday. He missed a lot of throws that he usually makes. I agree Palmer didn't look that good yesterday at all. He also didn't have that much time on other throws. I just know I really wonder who good are receivers are besides Chad though. I mean we really have done nothing in the passing game since Henry went out. Henry was playing about 60 percent of the snaps on offense the last few games before he got hurt Marvin said, and the offense really seemed to get going. Even if he was not making a catch, him just being on the field opened things up for the offense. It just seems like we have struggled a lot since, and honestly we really haven't seen Caldwell consistently get open a lot all year, even though he has made some huge catches. I think another reason for this obviously is our offensive coordinator and how predicatable he is, and how teams know what we do. It seems like all routes we run are either an out route, or a deep in route. Its been like that for years. We see on tv all the time, all these other teams have even there great receivers just end up wide open long somehow. So obviously other teams run routes that do confuse teams, while when was the last time we seen a team have a broken coverage against the Bengals? Just this offense has me worried right now, with how we are doing things. Hopefully though they do get things figured out, because we will need this passing game whats the playoffs come.

I still like Chad as a good receiver, but that is highly debatable, imo. If he makes the cut, he would be one of the last 1 or 2 in.
