Add "closely guarded" to the list.

Isn't that supposed to be within 6 feet? The way it appears to be called, "closely guarded" means the defender has to be able to reach out and touch the ball handler.

What is and isn't a correctable error.

Not in any order:

1. 3 second call

2. 5 second closely guarded

3. Over and back

4. Charging/Blocking

5. Moving pick/screen

6. walking

7. over the back on rebounds

8. in the lane too soon on free throws

9. ????

10. ???

Probably saw Darius Miller use the jump stop a hundred times if I saw it once. It was called traveling maybe once out of 15 or 20 times (which still demonstrates that there's confusion regarding the rule).

I probably hate that call more than any other in basketball.

6 feet is the rule. However, its not just the # of feet that people misunderstand. Its when the 5 second count begins and ends.

People yelling "over the back," gets me.

I, on a side note, get frustrated with officials when they do girls games. It is almost as if they think a girl cannot pump fake and drive. I watch the pivot foot very very closely and it seems that they just guess.:madman:

Where all players get in trouble on the pump fake is faking with their non-pivot foot and then lifting their pivot foot before releasing the ball for the dribble.

Add the misunderstanding of the double dribble rule in regards to fumbling the ball or not catching it initially before you dribble.

I'm very much at fault with this. It always looks like they are putting the ball on the floor. I have to catch myself so I don't speak aloud, but I often mumble to myself "double dribble." Then I think back and realize it was a fumble.

On over and back also - you are where you were when you left the floor. As in jumping from the backcourt to the frontcourt to avoid an over and back call.

Over the back requires a PUSH.

Unless I'm wrong the "moving screen" is simply a block. The fact that you're blocking the defender away from a teammate doesn't change the rule.

:thumb: You nailed it.

What's the exception to the above?

I personally hate the play where the player jumps up, catches the ball and calls time out. The worst play in all of basketball!:madman: What I really hate about this play is when the referee rules the ball/player was out of bounds, going against the player attempting to call a time out. The referee then gives the ball out to the other team without assessing a time out when the player clearly signaled for a TO. If the officials would assess a time out then maybe this play would go away. Shouldn'T the official assess a timeout in this situation???
